Cavalier Film Room: The MVPs
June 2, 2015David Blatt on Kyrie Irving’s injury: “Progress has been slow”
June 2, 2015Following the Cavaliers clinching their second-ever NBA Finals berth, Kevin Love spoke to the media for the first time since injuring his shoulder. While he said that he expects to be in a Cavaliers jersey for next season’s season opener, Love also said that he re-aggravated his shoulder injury during the celebration following the sweep of the Atlanta Hawks.
Sitting behind the bench for the Cavaliers home games during the postseason (and now being able to travel with the team for the Finals), Love was on the court immediately following the wine and gold sweep over the Hawks. Unfortunately for him, that celebration led to him re-aggravating his shoulder injury that he suffered (and has since had surgery on) during the first round of the playoffs against the Boston Celtics.
Via NEOMG’s Chris Haynes:
“I walk out there, the teammate will remain nameless, I go up and give him a big hug, [and I said] ‘Congratulations,’ and he takes his arm and he goes, ‘Ah yeah man, good game’ and just hits me right on the arm,” Love said. “Some of the front office staff who was out there with me kind of had to grab me and said, ‘Are you OK?'”
It turns out that while orange and yellow confetti was falling from the rafters and while the trophy presentation was going on, Love was in excruciating pain.
“I had one of those moments where I was like, ‘Oh man, I’m going to have to go back to the locker room. How is that going to look? Will I have to have to sit down?’ So I just tried to take a deep breath, calm myself and got home and iced as quickly as [possible],” Love said.
Out of a sling, Love obviously still has plenty of rehab on his plate before he even thinks about playing basketball again. Luckily for him, the re-aggravation was nothing more than a nuisance, and did not cause more damage to his surgically-repaired shoulder.
Love may have wanted to head back to the locker room, but he toughed it out lest he look bad to the fans (and media) that may have seen him leave celebration on the floor.

Probably hurt a lot, but I don’t know if he “re-aggravated” it like the media is portraying it. Will this injury possibly benefit the cavs longterm? Will he gamble for a year in hopes for a big payday next year, or will he just sign a max deal this year. If he doesn’t think he will be fully healed next year, will he get max money the following year? Interesting scenario that I have not heard brought up yet. I don’t think shoulder will be a problem moving forward, but just my opinion.
So in the Finals close out game give the guy a red no-contact jersey.
When LeBron hit the game winner against Chicago I was seriously worried that Tristan or J.R. was going to injure him. Now I’d worry more about Delly (that was a joke, sheesh).
just wrap his upperbody in sarran wrap. Should be fine. You could actually prob just do his left side

Dirty Delly!
My money is on Timo the Russian bear!
Sounds like he’s setting up justification to leave the Cavs. I’ll notify Kornheiser.
Smith, Bayless and Wilbon are far worse then Tony K if anything Kornheiser has been pro Cavaliers since LBJ announced he’d return.
For the second night in a row, Kornheiser intimated that Love is leaving the Cavs. Kornheiser is an idiot.
He and Wilbon also eviscerated the Browns early last season for starting Hoyer instead of Manziel. Then when Johny Circus finally got his shot and fell on his face, they ripped the Browns for that too.
They’re entertaining guys, but they really don’t know what’s going on with each team. I understand that it’s not possible for them to know, so I wish they’d stop acting like they do.
He also said this team is full of castoffs which was hilarious. I think ESPN is a joke but I expect a little more from those two.
