Cardiac Cavs: While We’re Waiting…
June 10, 2015Klay Thompson: “If we get our offense back, which we will, we’re gonna win this series.”
June 10, 2015After a 39-minute, 20-point, 5-rebound, 4-assist performance — a floor-diving, odds-overcoming, superhuman effort that nearly saw him match the point total of NBA MVP Stephen Curry — Matthew Dellavedova went to the Cleveland Clinic to receive treatment for cramps after the Cavaliers’ 96-91 victory over the Golden State Warriors to take a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals. He earned it.
From ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
Dellavedova experienced “severe cramping,” per the Cavs, and required an IV after putting up 20 points in 39 minutes. He was able to walk under his own power to the parking garage at Quicken Loans Arena, where he was placed on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to the Cleveland Clinic. He was admitted to receive additional treatment.
The Cavaliers said they would provide an update on his status Wednesday.
Delly’s cramps are the latest health issue for the Cavs, including Iman Shumpert’s shoulder injury last night. Shumpert left the game in the first quarter after jamming his left shoulder — the same one he dislocated earlier this season — on a Draymond Green screen, though he returned and knocked down a three-pointer in the second.
Per McMenamin, Shumpert says he’ll be okay.
“I think it’s just bruised,” Shumpert said after finishing with three points, three rebounds and three steals in 32 minutes. “Bruised, sprained, something. … I’ll be all right.”
Dellavedova, meanwhile, earned heaps of deserved praise from all corners of the locker room.
“He plays as hard as he can every day,” Cavaliers coach David Blatt said. “He plays right. He’s not afraid. He plays courageously. And everybody on his team has his back. It’s not an issue of confidence. He is going to give you whatever he has.”
Said LeBron James of Dellavedova: “He’s going to give everything he’s got. His body, he’s going to throw his body all over the place. And he’s going to compete at a high level however many minutes he’s out on the floor.”
More on Delly, via NEOMG’s Chris Fedor:
“One thing about Delly, every night he’s going to come out and bust his tail,” Tristan Thompson said. “He’s going to play hard every possession, and it starts with defense. He picks up 94 feet. He really tries to make whoever he’s guarding uncomfortable, and those are the little things that changes the game, and changes the series.”
Game 4 is in Cleveland Thursday at 9 p.m.

Maybe stop drinking coffee at halftime, Delly.
I wish Shawn Marion could play a minute or five that must be one serious calf injury. This is the perfect scenario where his defense could be used to at least spell someone namely LBJ. I’m worried these minutes are taking a toll. Cavs cannot lose another guard as LBJ said after the game.
I’m getting worried enough that I had visions of #17 suiting up. Can you imagine how the crowd would react if they saw Andy in uniform. Frankly I might do it just so Golden State saw him even if he never played a minute.
Worst NBA finals regular in the history of the universe.
American coffee probably tastes like water to him

I want him to come out in his gray suit, then at the beginning of the 2nd qtr he stands up, and rips it off (specially made tear away business suit) to reveal the uniform underneath as his runs onto the floor.
Delly is like Bruce Bowen… if Bowen could dribble well enough to run the point. I guess he’s not going to get that cred until he shows it for a whole championship series.
Georgie Patton would love this guy.

We need to save some of this for tomorrow!!!
Not one of the Warrior players has half the heart that Delly has. They are not flying after the ball like we are. They are showing just how soft they really are. I guess that is a testament to the style of Western Conference basketball (excluding the Spurs). Run n’ Gun and little D.
Looks to me that Curry is terrified to drive the ball to the rim and is even so flustered that he’s making terrible passes sometimes right to our own guys. He is not an MVP. Maybe of his team, but not the league.
And I’m proud as hell to have Delly wearing the wine and gold.
I couldn’t find the best one. Guess I’ll have to consult my copy of “War As I Knew It” when I get home.
Columbians drink Delly’s sweat for energy.
