Cavs want David Blatt to extend his rotation for Game 5

June 12, 2015Buckeye fans, we officially have conflicting news on the status of Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller. According to 247Sports.com, Miller has been fully cleared and faces no limitations on his shoulder. Conversely, The Columbus Dispatch reports early Friday afternoon that there has been no change in Miller’s status and that he is scheduled to see Dr. James Andrews later this month.
Miller had surgery last August on his right (throwing) shoulder to repair an injury which was sustained early in Ohio State’s season. The team would go on to win the National Championship under quarterbacks J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones, leaving Miller’s status with the team uncertain. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer has said Miller plans to play for the Buckeyes, something that was corroborated by Jones, but the 2014 Heisman hopeful has not spoken to the media since his injury.
The report from 247Sports includes the line item that the starting job was “Miller’s to lose,” though hedges their bet by saying this does not mean Miller would be ready to play before the team’s September 7 opener against Virginia Tech. In a recent pole conducted by Public Policy Polling, Ohio State fans appear to favor Jones of the three quarterbacks, surprising absolutely no one as it’s No. 12 who has the highest NFL ceiling and was the man behind three consecutive wins to end the season. Meanwhile, Barrett set a school record for total offense during the 2014 regular season and Miller is a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year who had endless support prior to his surgery.
There has been speculation that Miller could return to Ohio State and not play quarterback given that his future in football may be at a different position. This said, if Dr. James Andrews is proven to be in the picture, all of this speculation may be all for naught.
