Embrace crying in baseball

July 31, 2015Former Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has not played in a game since 2012 (and is still somehow getting paid, but that’s beside the point), but he still has his fair share of opinions on the NBA. In his latest Instagram post, Arenas decided to talk about Cleveland Cavaliers point-forward LeBron James.
At first, he explained how an athlete like James “comes around once in a blue moon.”
“A man who’s so physically gifted he could walk into any sport and be a HOF’er off his natural (God given ability),” Arenas wrote.
Obviously, Agent Zero knows that James is a very good player, but admits his God given ability plays a major role in that.
“6-foot-8, 275 [pounds], 44-inch vertical, once at a top speed, [he can’t be stopped],”, mentioned Arenas.
Although Arenas went on to mention that is like a train when moving, he also talked about how his first two steps are not as powerful, which hurts him on isolation plays and the ability to blow past players when standing still. With that, the 33-year old explained that at this point in James’ career, it would be better for him to already be in motion when he decides to attack the basket, because he plays straight up and down and does not bend much.
Arenas then said the most important part of his Instagram post, when he said that “James isn’t a No, 1 option”. According to him, this is due to the fact that he lacks selfishness, so he will always need a go-to player alongside himself, like Dwayne Wade or Kyrie Irving.
“He lacks what Jordan and Kobe were, Great one-on-one players, He needs a pure scorer beside him so (James) can carry the team load,” said Arenas.
It’s almost as if Arenas not calling James a No. 1 option is a compliment to the way James plays the game.
Arenas admitted that the 2015 Finals were the first time that James was physically pushed to the limit was because he had no one to defur to. He also admitted to the fact that he cringes every time Charles Barkley and company bash James.
“It’s sad the world won’t get to see who I’m talking about because his legacy is built on winning,” said Arenas. “If you doubt what I’m saying, look at every game he was pissed off and was challenged. This man could be the second best [or] third for sure player to ever play when it’s all said and done around 2020+and he didn’t even tap into his ability to be GREATEST.”
Arenas was famously the victim of some LeBron James head games back in 2006 when James whispered to a free throw line-bound Arenas: “If you miss these two, the game is over.” With 15 seconds remaining in overtime and the Gilbert-led Washington Wizards leading by one in the Verizon Center, Arenas missed the first free throw before James stepped in the lane to offer his thoughts. Agent Zero missed the second free throw and Cavs guard Damon Jones hit a game-winning shot at the other end to clinch the series.
James, as mentioned spent the early portion of his summer in the NBA Finals with the Cavaliers. Arenas, conversely, was recently banned from a local carnival for winning too many stuffed animals while playing pop-a-shot.

This guy acted like a cartoon now he looks like one. Talk about a waste of talent and not using it to his potential Arenas should know. Expert.
So greatest = most selfish, talented player
Kind of strange comments to make at the end, but he may not be wrong on the “should already be in motion” bit. LBJ is a freak of nature, but he’s not getting younger. Stuff like that could help his effectiveness as that first step invariably begins to slow.
I don’t know, he’s seemed a decent #1 option every now and again. That Game 6 against Detroit back in the day, Game 4 v. Chicago this year comes to mind, maybe someone can wrack their brain for others when he was barnstorming with that tropical team.
If Arenas is giving you advice, run the other way.
I was hoping Gilbert would tell us what LBJ whispered to him back in the playoffs just before Gilby choked on two free throws!
