Matthew Dellavedova agrees to one-year deal with Cavs
July 27, 2015The Cavs got trade exceptions. So what? WFNY FAQ
July 27, 2015Lest we forget, it was only a couple months back that Delly Fever infected wide swaths of Greater Cleveland. With the news that the Cleveland Cavaliers are officially retaining Delly by way of him signing a one-year deal, let us revisit the magical after-shocks of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, when Maryborough’s finest captured imaginations everywhere.
Matthew Dellavedova is a below average point guard by most metrics (and opinions). However, he can certainly provide the grit and hustle necessary to make himself a worthy rotation player for a NBA championship contending team, as he demonstrated during the Cleveland Cavaliers 2015 NBA Playoff run. For one magical night during Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Dellavedova had his shining moment for a record-setting audience. And, likely due to the standard fan loving the below average player who relies on full effort to stick in the NBA, the internet lost its collective mind over the man affectionately called Delly.
From the NBA Finals Game 3 Behind the Box Score article :
20 – Matthew Dellavedova is an improbable NBA player who was the improbable hero in Game 3, adding 20 points and becoming the Cavs second leading scorer. Outback Jesus is the star of a basketball fairy tale right now, and is quickly becoming a Cleveland folk hero. A player once known for his effort and the wrath he inspired from fans from that effort’s results, he’s becoming known for his effort and playoff heroics.
…
If James is the lead guitarist defining the team’s grit-and-grind play, Dellavedova is the serviceable drummer keeping the rhythm by being the first man on the floor for every loose ball. It was a superhuman effort from Dellavedova in Game 3, so much so that James told Doris Burke that Delly was “made of steel” in the postgame interview. Later, Dellavedova went to the Cleveland Clinic with “severe cramping,” with his status to be updated on Wednesday. Let’s get that kid 10 bags of IV fluid and megaliter of Gatorade.
Delly’s Grit
Cavs coach David Blatt says Matthew Dellavedova "is the most Cleveland-like Australian I've ever met. … What's not to love about the guy?"

Another incredible effort from Cleveland. You should be able to buy Dellavedova collision insurance for court side seating.

Delly’s gritty enough to have two categories for it
Blatt says Dellavedova and Shumpert will both play Game 4. Blatt said he told Delly he would limit his minutes, Delly said "no you're not"

@netw3rk I’d love to see the EKG printout of @matthewdelly. Probably broke the damn machine with all that heart. #MrHustle #CavsWarriors

Forget the LeBron-MJ debate. It's time to start the Dellavedova-MJ debate.

It's pathetic how LeBron always teams up with stars to chase rings. First Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, now Matthew Dellavedova. #hottake

A ErythMomycin shot is pretty effective against Delly Fever.
Those are great, Bode.
Delly didn’t put the Cavs in the playoffs. He just made them way more fun.
Oh how soon they forget their Boobie!!!

Another great entry for the photographed, not photoshopped category.
pretty sure they ran out on June 10, 2015 (D.A.D. – Day after Delly)
I anticipate lot’s of ErythMOmycin shots this season.
This is still my favorite though:

Not mine. When the Warriors finally did “come out to play” they end up winning (movie and NBA Finals).
Yea but just like the movie it took a bunch of brothas to get the victory. The GS Warriors needed the Cavs to implode so they won by default. The * asterisk applies.
