July 3, 2015After a busy Wednesday re-signing a few of their free agents, the Cavaliers announced on Thursday that center Timofey Mozgov underwent surgery on his knee. Mozgov had successful right knee arthroscopic debridement on Wednesday at the Cleveland Clinic Marymount Surgicenter. Drs. Richard Parker and James Rosneck performed the operation. Mozgov’s rehabilitation process is expected to take six weeks. This time frame should allow him to be fully recovered for the start of training camp next season.
The Cavaliers recently picked up Timofey Mozgov’s team option for next season. He will receive around $5 million during the 2015-16 NBA season. Last season in 46 regular season games for the Cavs, Mozgov started 45 of the 46 games, averaging 10.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. In the postseason, he averaged 10.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in 20 games.
Mozgov was one of the big difference makers who helped make the Cavs defense a lot better towards the end of the season. He is slated to be the Cavs starting center come next season and continue his role as a defensive force down low.
