Next Up: Indians fly from CLE to MSP

August 15, 2015Mash-ups are definitely having a moment right now. Food trends, hot music, even fashion… people like it when you combine two things that wouldn’t seem like they necessarily go together.
So, what happens when you bring together the magic of mega-conglomerate Disney and the NFL? We’ll probably never know for sure, but thanks to @NFLRT and Instagram user @ak47_studios, we now know what each of the 32 NFL teams’ logos would look like if it happened.
The Cleveland Browns as the Cleveland Buzz Lightyears:
I’ll be honest, at first glance I didn’t really get this. But, as one of my astute WFNY colleagues pointed out, it’s probably a reference to Buzz Lightyear’s plot line in the first Toy Story. If your memory needs refreshed, Lightyear thinks he’s a real astronaut that can fly — and he’s just a toy that can’t. Is that a metaphor for the Browns as a team? Or perhaps one player in particular? Buzz Lightyear did come in with a lot of flash. Ouch.
Let’s take a look at the rest of the AFC North.
The Maleficent Baltimore Ravens:
I love this one because it aligns perfectly with my personal belief that the Baltimore Ravens are evil.
Snow White and the 7 Steelers:
Steel, coal mining… this works, I suppose. Although I can’t help but think it’s also communicating that Pittsburgh Steelers’ fans are short, simple people with truly one-dimensional personalities.
Tigger the Cincinnati Bengal:
This one is pretty great. It just works.

I’m not willing to go that deep. I just think they tried to find a recognizable character who wears a helmet that they could color brown and orange, since that’s really their logo.
