Video: Josh McCown won’t rule out more head-first dives
September 24, 2015Cardale Jones to remain starting QB for Ohio State vs. Western Michigan
September 24, 2015There appeared to be some hope for the Cleveland Browns with Johnny Manziel showing improvement from his brief and inconsistent rookie season. While Manziel has only completed just under 54 percent of his passes through a game and a half, that includes three touchdowns and 9.1 yards per attempt. It seemed that Manziel was making progress as a pro quarterback and was likely to remain as the starter while the health of Josh McCown was unknown.
However this week McCown was cleared to play and despite some optimism surrounding Manziel, McCown was named the starter for the Week 3 home game against the Oakland Raiders. While that upset some fans in Cleveland, it also upset the secondary market as the average price for Browns tickets has dropped 6% since McCown was named the starter.
According to TiqIQ, the current average price for Browns vs Raiders tickets is $199.03 with a get-in price of $50. While the Browns remain one of the least expensive teams to see on the secondary market throughout the league, this will be the second least expensive game at FirstEnergy Stadium in 2015. Only a Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals currently has an average below Sunday’s game. The meeting with Arizona is threatening on falling below the $100 mark with a current average of $102.77.
Before the starter announcement was made, the average for the game was $126.42, which would have placed it as the fourth most expensive home game, just below the $129.84 average for the home opener against the Tennessee Titans last week.
No games for the Browns hold an average price above $200 for the remainder of the season. The most expensive game will come in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos. Browns vs Broncos tickets on TiqIQ currently have an average price of $187.54 and a get-in price of $76. The next most expensive game will be against Pittsburgh in Week 17 with an average of $149.94, 20% below the Denver game.
During his brief stint in Week 1 McCown was relatively successful, as he completed five of his eight passes for 49 yards. Though most fans know the most excitement lies with Manziel running the offense. While there’s potentially a lower floor — such as the five sacks Manziel has already taken — the ceiling can be much higher, and not just on the field, but in ticket demand as well.
