September 12, 2015One by one, the fringe players are being sent packing by the Cleveland Browns. Heading in to the 53-man cuts, running back Terrance West, wide receiver Terrelle Pryor and defensive lineman Billy Winn were all question marks. Since Saturday’s deadline, West has been traded to Tennessee, Pryor was waived to make room for an injured running back and now Winn has reportedly been traded to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2017 draft pick.
The #Browns have traded DL Billy Winn to the #Colts for a 2017 conditional draft pick, the team announced.

Winn experienced one of the bigger falls from grace over the course of the regime changes. A sixth-round pick in 2012, Winn earned himself a lot of fans in the Browns front office. In 2013, Winn’s reviews were of the rave variety, as his versatility allowed for the Boise State product to slot in at defensive end in the team’s 3-4 scheme. The 26-year-old later logged 313 snaps as Ahtyba Rubin’s backup at left end last season, but was effectively replaced by the addition of Max Starks this past summer after the front seven produced league-worst numbers against the run.
The Browns are expected to use Winn’s open roster spot to promote running back Shaun Draughn from the practice squad to the active roster, allowing the team to roster three backs heading into their Week 1 contest against the New York Jets. Starks, Desmond Bryant, John Hughes and Xavier Cooper will be the team’s defensive ends.

They couldn’t wait to get Farmer out of the picture, sheesh!
Dude, it’s Randy Starks not Max Starks
But is a conditional 7th rounder a good deal for us?
And we still have 3.5 more weeks…
Better than nothing. If we waived him, someone could get him for free. Looks like his name was on the bottom of the list and we had to do something to have another RB available.
