Is there any doubt left? The can’t pick in the first round.
you do not fire ray farmer … he must be given a minimum of 3-4 years to try to put something together.
you have a point , but would sammy watkins have been a good pick at #4 in 2014 ?? … if so , what kind of numbers would he be putting-up in cleveland ?
and i still think gilbert & shelton were pettine’s picks & manziel was haslam’s pick … and if that is the case , it’s not all on ray & haslam obviously know this.
… and his 1st round picks were : gilbert , manziel , shelton & erving … gilbert is the only one that doesn’t look like he’s going to pan-out.
maybe there is still hope he can do like manziel & at least get serious & focused.
most thought manziel was a wasted pick … until this year. you simply cannot judge a draft after 1 or 2 seasons.
… and isn’t everyone tired of freakin’ starting over every 2 seasons ?? … it doesn’t work !
and i think we can all agree he has done a decent job from the 2nd round on & with the un-drafted free-agents.
… and then again , it looks like he may’ve whiffed on dwayne bowe.

The fans probably are tired about starting over, but since most fans are so impatient, I’ll bet they’re willing to tolerate another regime change so soon after their last one. Hoping that this will be the regime that will achieve success. Just watch. Once the Cavs lose their first game early in the season, we’ll see an article questioning whether or not we should fire David Blatt. Ugh!!
You should be fired for one completely useless draft, let alone two. If he gets a chance to do a third, then pitchforks and boiling oil are in order.
Just reading that WSJ article in which he said the QB and the WR position are not that important made me want to gag.
At the end of the day, the same idiot who hired him, Banner and Lombardi is going to hire the next guy, so it really does not matter. Until football fans use their wallets to hold the team accountable, nothing will ever change. Ultimately this is the fans’ fault for not treating the NFL and the Browns like any old multi-billion dollar business.
I agree it doesn’t work but the thought of Farmer in charge of another draft is scary. You’ve been really high on Farmer for awhile. Can you please tell me why you are confidant in Ray Farmer being a successful GM?

good post LUNCH … most browns fans want immediate results. and in most cases , it’s not going to happen … then i look at what atlanta is doing with first year coach dan quinn & i am green with envy.
hi TRON … i am more high on that he should be given a minimum of 3-4 years to try & put something sustainable together , as he is still weeding through the last regime’s mess. i also like the fact that he is a former player … i believe that dwight clark was the last GM that was a former player & he had the dubious task of building an expansion franchise. i look at someone like ozzie , that was a former player , & think there is a slight advantage to being a former player … though i did like tom heckert. and , of course , he was not given enough time to see his plan through.
textgate aside , his glaring weakness has been drafting in the first round & with bringing-in bargain / older free-agents. i think his main plan is to build through the draft & maybe fill a hole or two with free-agents.
i am currently willing to give him the benefit of the doubt with his 1st round picks in 2014 & 2015 … ONE : because i believe these picks were influenced by pettine and/or haslam , and TWO : he has done a pretty good job from the 2nd round on & with the undrafted free-agents … his only miscue there was WR vince mahle.
job one should be securing a franchise QB , whether it’s manziel or someone else … i think he really liked mariota , but wasn’t willing to give-up the farm. he is trying to model the browns after the seahawks , which is ok … the only thing i do not like is has to get over this “WR are not that important” thing , which is also a seahawk philosophy … look at how dangerous the raiders look now with cooper & crabtree at wideouts.
we have had 2 winnings seasons since 1999 & they were both followed-up with 3 & 4 win seasons … that is not going to get it done. i am not looking for a quick-fix , as these 2 winning seasons were … i am looking for someone to build this thing up & have consistent , sustainable success … browns fans are way too impatient for this.
i will not say farmer is our savior , but i do think he should be given 3-4 years & THEN we can evaluate the job he has done.
how’s that ??
When they end up 4-12 this year, I imagine Farmer will be gone.
Yea I agree blowing things up would solve nothing no matter how bad Farmer is. Was just curious why you have been so high on him.
