Ohio State escapes Indiana still undefeated: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

October 6, 2015Following a career game against Indiana, Ezekiel Elliott earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors, the Big Ten announced on Monday.
Elliott carried the Buckeyes offense on his back on Saturday at Indiana, running for 274 yards in Saturday’s win over the Hoosiers. It was the second-most rushing yards in the FBS in a game this season. His three second-half touchdowns — of 55, 65, and 75 yards — make him the only player in the last 10 years to have three touchdowns of more than 50 yards in the same half, according to ESPN.
The Heisman candidate’s 274 yards were tied for the second-most in school history with Keith Byars (274 yards against Illinois in 1984) and behind only Eddie George (314 against Illinois in 1995). Zeke did however, set the school record for most rushing yards in a half (243), a mark previously held by Byars (195 in the second half against Illinois in 1984).
The junior averaged a school-record 11.9 yards per carry on Saturday. Elliott has now gained 729 yards on the ground this season and is averaging 145.8 yards per game, best in the Big Ten and sixth-best in the country. His four runs of over 50 yards are tied for the national lead.
Zeke was also named Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week on Saturday, the ninth time a Buckeye has taken home the award since 2004.
This was (somehow) the first time Elliott won Big Ten player of the week honors.

I know Urban was trying to keep his workload light, so that he is fresh for the end of the year, but you’ve got to ride this kid a little more. He’s durable and too good to be omitted from the offense.
There’s so much scrutiny on the offense right now because of the unreal standards that are being set; but I agree that I’d just like to see him featured earlier in the game.
Get Zeke going early, open the receivers up, lay it on and then get to all the spreading the ball around/playbook testing we’re currently seeing.
The offense should start and end with Eazy E all day, all night.
