October 6, 2015Grantland’s Jonah Keri votes Lindor for AL ROY; Kluber fifth in Cy Young
October 6, 2015This video is about a week old, but for those who didn’t get to see Mo Williams take his first shots in a wine and gold No. 52 jersey on Monday night, it’s a great refresher of how great it is to have the veteran point guard back in the fold for what is shaping up to be the final act of his career.
Williams calls Cleveland the “place he learned how to win,” a place that housed him as he started to enter his prime as a player in the NBA. With all of the star power that was taken at the top of the first round, it’s easy to forget that Williams was drafted in the same class as LeBron James in 2003. The two obviously played together as recent as the summer of 2010, and Williams admits that both players have grown since. But what may be the most telling of Mo’s travels: His never-dying appreciation for Cavs fans.
“I like to engage with the fans,” said Williams. “That’s what I do, especially this fan base. It’s always been something dear to my heart. Even when I wasn’t here, the ovation that gave me when I came back as a visitor, I never took that for granted and took that in to consideration when I decided where I wanted to finish my career. It made my decision easy to come back and finish my career here, to say that I retired a Cavalier.”
Lest anyone forget, once the deal was struck to send Mo back to Cleveland, he tweeted that he was heading “home.”

Mo looked good knocking down some open jumpers last night in the Wine and Gold scrimmage but I don’t know if I’m buying what he’s selling entirely. Still. At this point. I’ll buy.
