October 9, 2015Cleveland Browns cornerback Tramon Williams said Wednesday that the NFL told him and the Browns that he wasn’t offside on the game-winning field goal attempt by the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Northeast Ohio Media Group.
In case you forgot, Williams was called for offside on the first of two game-winning field goal attempts by Chargers kicker Josh Lambo. Lambo’s first attempt — a 39-yarder — was wide right, but due to Williams penalty, he was given another chance, and the rookie took full advantage, making the field goal with no time remaining and locking up the win for the Chargers, 30-27.
According to Williams, it was positive feedback that the league office gave him.
“It came back that I wasn’t offside,” Williams told NEOMG. “I moved when the ball was snapped.”
While Williams is saying one thing, NFL Vice President of Football Communications Michael Signora is saying another. Signora said that Williams’ statement is “not true” about the NFL telling Wiliams and the Browns that he wasn’t offside.
According to Cabot, the NFL has not reviewed any tape from the Browns game this past weekend because of the fact that Cleveland did not ask for clarification of the offside call.
The penalty prevented the game from going to overtime and helped drop the Browns to 1-3.
Whether he was correct or not, Williams agreed that he has to move on and not dwell on the “what could have been” or “what would have been” the starting cornerback is showing his veteran-like mindset.
The NFL may disagree with Williams, but he still stands pat that he wasn’t offside on the field goal attempt.
“The coaches sent in the tape questioning it, because like I said, it was close and I thought I got a good jump,” said Williams. “It was time to do or die at the end of the game. I had gathered all the information throughout the game, and I was like ‘this is my time.’
“And sure enough, I got a good jump on it.”

That is so Browns
Sounds like you’re saying the NFL doesn’t have all it’s ducks in a row. Shocking.
Also, that image is the worst.
The dotted line isn’t even parallel with the line of scrimmage. It CLEARLY tilts away from Williams giving him extra space.
Deflated hope!
man , i feel so much better now knowing this … *rolls eyes*
It’s MKC that doesn’t have her act together. Coach Pet sent it into the referee’s office for clarification, which may or may not even be in the same building as to who MKC sent her email to. Either way whoever she sent the email to had to pull up the ref’s offices findings on the computer to know himself. He didn’t review it. The NFL after reviewing it then sends their findings back to the team, not to Tramon Williams or any other player. So Williams saying that it came back to him as not offside was a coach telling him that, not the NFL’s referees office.
It’s a case of head hunting by MKC & she got her man.
Is that the joke? Or not? Poe’s Law?
After I quit my previous job 13 months ago, I was blessed to get introduced to following job opportunity online which saved me … They offer online home base work . Last paycheck after being on this job for them for four months was 12,000 dollars …. Cool fact about that job is that the requirement for being able to start is basic typing and connection to the internet …..
