November 16, 2015Losing is one thing, but the health risks associated with NFL football are much worse. Andrew Hawkins was unable to finish the Browns game and his brother posted to Facebook about just how bad the symptoms were for the Browns’ diminutive receiver.

Hawkins went down early in the fourth quarter after amassing seven receptions for 69 yards. He was part of a pretty potent Browns passing attack that saw Johnny Manziel go for 372 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers secondary.
Stats aren’t all that important though when you start piling up concussions. Hawkins has missed time in 2015 already with concussions and these kinds of head injuries are cumulative so things get scarier the more you suffer.
I’m betting this is the play on which that concussion occurred. Jarvis Jones hit him very very hard and probably has 100 pounds on Andrew Hawkins.

How was this not a helmet-to-helmet penalty on Jones?
The Browns lead the league in concussions (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/concussion-watch/#teams_2015) – hard to imagine a more disastrous season.
If there isn’t a severe fine and/or suspension on that play then the NFL hates Cleveland more then when they sold the new franchise back to one of the owners who helped move the previous team.
Oh and Ray Farmer maybe when you lose two more WRs to concussion you should realize size does matter.
I only watch the Steelers twice a year. I see more flagrant h2h hits during those two games than the entire rest of the year – not to mention the play where Manziel almost lost his spinal cord. Are they that dirty or is it purely observation bias on my part?
They are the dirtiest team in the league. The worst part is that their fans actually celebrate it. Unfortunately I live in PA. All I’m hearing about is the ‘awesome’ hit on Hawkins and facemasking of Manziel. It’s an embarrassment to the NFL that they have let this go on for so long.
