NEO High School Football Week 10: Benedictine finishes strong as the playoffs arrive
November 2, 2015Fall back, then spring forward: Cavs-Sixers, Behind the Box Score
November 2, 2015Following Friday night’s home-opening win over the Miami Heat, LeBron James’ chief endorser, Nike, sent out a cryptic message regarding the four-time MVP. With James tallying a modest 18 points in the thumping of his former team, he finds himself just 21 points shy of the 25,000-point mark. According to Nike, this is an event worth celebrating.
While we won’t know what the LeBron 13 NIKE iD “moment” will be until that 21st points falls through the nylon, we do know that it will likely be similar to when Nike briefly released a limited edition version of their Kobe 9 after one of the future Hall of Famer’s scoring milestones.
Currently, LeBron sits 199 points behind the logo, Jerry West, for 19th all-time in the NBA’s record books. If he scores his career average through, say, 75 games, he will also leapfrog Reggie Miller, Alex English, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, John Havlicek, and Dominique Wilkins—Oscar Robertson and Hakeem Olajuwon would be within striking distance as well.
Assuming James notches 21 on Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, he will become the youngest player to cross the 25,000-point threshold. That a potential release involves his “squad” makes this all the more interesting. Stay tuned.
