Cleveland Indians lose Josh Martin, add Brian Moran in Rule 5 Draft
December 10, 2015It’s official: Browns extend Gary Barnidge
December 10, 2015In every dark, depressing, mismanaged, 2-10 cloud — a silver lining. Tight end Gary Barnidge has been an irrefutable bright spot for the 2015 Cleveland Browns, and the team is reportedly seeking to extend his contract, possibly before the day is done.
Browns are working on an extension with TE Gary Barnidge, per sources. Could get done as soon as today.

Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo didn’t seem to have any inside knowledge of such a deal, but expressed some excitement at the prospect.

Barnidge is in the midst of easily the best season of his career. He has already eclipsed his career totals — not single-season career highs, but career totals — in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He came into the year with 44 catches; he has 60 in 2015. He entered the season with 603 receiving yards; he has 817 through 12 games. He began 2015 with three touchdown catches; he equaled that by Week 5 and has seven for the year.
It’s been a season of dreams for Big Play Gary. He was the subject of an MMQB feature, made perhaps the most improbable catch of the season with his haunches, and should be on the fast track to his first Pro Bowl appearance. He ranks in the top-three among NFL tight ends in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. If anyone on this team deserves an extension, it’s Barnidge.
Some caution would be prudent given his age and poor blocking. He’s 30 years old, neither dinosaur nor spring chicken. He has not done well blocking this year — nor have Jim Dray and fullback Malcolm Johnson — and the Browns would thus be wise to find a burlier tight end this offseason.
His play has nonetheless been a revelation, and it would be a treat to have him back.
(Hey, just for kicks: Remember Rob Housler?)

First intelligent move I’ve seen this season. A no-brainer as well.
This would be cool. For whatever reason, I like barn+bridge way more than I liked Cameron.
…and in excruciating Brownsian fashion, he tears his ACL getting out of the chair after signing.
Browns re-sign Barnkowski!
We know this is going to end:
Barnidge injured while popping wheelies on his motorcycle. Motorcycle run over by a asphalt rolling machine. Entire accident scene swallowed up by massive earthquake.
ha, just saw this. My sick, sad instinctive thoughts exactly.
Someone should check him for a concussion.
double ha, just saw this as well which rang similar to my comment on the article officially announcing it.
I mean they’re taking their sweet time in checking over Haden for one…what’s another dude out for like 9 weeks?
