Mike Polk talks about the Browns and his new CD, “Baselessly Arrogant” – WFNY Podcast – 2015-12-03
December 3, 2015Nike and LeBron James hook Ohio State up with Scarlet and Gray PEs
December 3, 2015As the days of Johnny Manziel in Cleveland appear to be drawing closer to an end, many fans and reporters are speculating as to where the second-year quarterback could see the next chapter of his career unfold. In an appearance on “The Dan Patrick Show” Thursday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter listed the St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers and (of course) the Dallas Cowboys as the most likely destinations for Manziel if he were to leave Cleveland. When Patrick inquired about the Philadelphia Eagles, Schefter said he believes that they too would be a possibility.
Transcribed by Larry Brown Sports:
“I think he’d be in the conversation. Kelly has to find somebody to run that offense,” Schefter said. “Sam Bradford’s contract is up. Mark Sanchez has not proven that he can be a reliable week in and week out starter. I think the Eagles will look over all those options.”
The Eagles are an outright mess, but it’s tough to envision a quarterback like Manzlel fitting in to Kelly’s offense. And as fun as having Manziel linked to Kelly, the media storm in Dallas would be off the charts.
“Somebody will roll the dice and you know that Jerry Jones loves to make a splash, particularly when the cost is low like it will be with Johnny Manziel.”
The Niners are in a state of flux after this year’s falling out with quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The Rams reportedly considered Manziel before using their first-round pick on Aaron Donald, who made the Pro Bowl in 2014. And it appears that Jones’ Cowboys will be linked to Manziel as long as he is in the league. A day earlier, Schefter discussed Manziel heading to the Cowboys, especially in the wake of Tony Romo’s second injury this season. Though I guess this is understandable when stories about physical restraint on Draft Day leak out after a player lands on another team.

Mr. No-Playbook running Kelly’s offense?
Mr. Play-Before-Work in Concentration Camp Kelly?

Oh shocker! Other teams think Manziel still has potential. It is a good thing that we have Pettine who realizes that this is not the case.
Wonder who has more info, the guy who’s seen Manziel in practice for weeks and weeks or the people looking at him from across the country and don’t know him personally? I wonder…

Schefter lists some teams that might be interested in Manziel? NEWS!
= Teams are already discussing/finalizing a trade
do you really wonder that?
You’re talking about the guy who has led the Browns to possibly the worst season in their history, losers of 14 out of their last 16; a guy who can’t make a decision without consulting his magic 8-ball; a man who has made a terrible hire in his DC, and you’re comparing him with 3-time super bowl champion Jerry Jones?
But forget about all that.
Based on what you’ve seen this year, what makes you value Mike Pettine’s opinion?
YES YES YES please be true!
Brandon Weeden is still in the league too. Prosecution rests.
Was Schefter one of the scores of experts who were certain that Kevin Love would not sign with the Cavs?
I think Broussard was one.
Don’t forget his usual “well this guy is only QB this week” thing.
Sources say it was Broussard.
what i wonder is what jerry jones , or anyone else , is willing to give-up for manziel.
ie : would a 3rd , 4th or 5th round pick be acceptable to the browns ? a 12-pack of Heineken ?
… i am secretly hoping & praying that austin davis plays lights-out & beats the bengals.
I’m inclined to agree with this. While Mike hasn’t exactly wow-ed me this season, I just can’t make myself believe that JFF is some secret juggernaut that only Jerry Jones has the vision to realize… Pettine didn’t give him the starting job, and that was very obviously demonstrated to be the right decision when we finally saw him play this year. No doubt, he’s improved, but I don’t see an elite NFL QB out there in any of his playing time this year. Or even a better QB than McCown.
OH SHOCKER! A “FORMER BROWNS FAN” COMES TO A BROWNS ARTICLE TO COMMENT ON THE BROWNS.
HOW VERY BROWNS OF YOU.
BROWNS.
I would be very pleased with a 3, but I don’t expect that.
Wonder if they will work some sliding scale into it, based on production somehow.
with comments like that Im starting to wonder if you work in the Front Office in some capacity (Alec? is that you?)…they’ve done nothing but talk this guy up (and sign him to a curious extension) since he got here. Here’s to hoping SOME QB plays well for the Browns, I don’t care if it’s Art Schlicter and we have to Uber him between Berea and Northfield Park every day
3 time super bowl champion Jerry Jones? I remember him as the moron who ran off Jimmy Johnson and whose only success since was because of Bill Parcells. Tomato-tomatoe I guess
I mean, just listen to his comments earlier this year about Brandon Weeden…or Greg Hardy. Thats pretty sad that the Browns cant meet your expectations if they’re that low (seriously, the Browns are sad).
I have more faith that an idiot up close knows more than an idiot far away. But Jerry Jones clearly doesn’t value character in his guys (look at Hardy and Dez) so fine. Maybe he’s willing to let Johnny be a lunatic and hope that he doesn’t get creamed on the field. My argument is that Johnny isn’t good enough to give the slack that Dez Bryant gets, or hell, even the slack that Josh Gordon gets. If Johnny did what Josh did, he’d be gone 6 months ago. And I’m willing to also believe the Jerry is egotistical enough to take what he saw from Johnny at A&M and thing “I can turn him into something.” Him believing in Johnny doesn’t necessarily change the reality that Johnny isn’t a guy that could beat Josh McCown for a job in Cleveland and his combination of skills and dumbassery couldn’t beat Austin Davis’ skills and lack of dumbassery for a starting job now. They’d rather let Josh “my arm is falling off and my face is numb from getting smacked in the head” McCown continue to play…that’s how little faith they had in Johnny and they see him in practice EVERY SINGLE DAY. And somehow, Jerry Jones who never gets to watch him play knows better? If Romo is healthy, is Jerry Jones jizzing to get Johnny? NO! He just doesn’t have a better option and his ego thinks I can turn this guy into something. Doesn’t mean Johnny is actually better than the Browns give him credit for. Could be that he’s worse than Jerry Jones gives him credit for. How come that’s not possible?
He’s a bum! Told ya so! Told ya so!
What are you talking about?

Don’t let the door hit you on the bum on your way out.
On the unrecorded part of the interview, Schefter also said that he ‘thinks” the Fiery Doritos Locos Taco Supreme from Taco Bell is “mmm, mmm, mighty tasty.”
Why do I care what this guy “thinks”? Oh, that’s right. I don’t.
5th rounder with the chance of it jumping up to a 3rd or falling to a 7th based on performance. Who says no?
Get you’re short ties out of here! Short ties are weird!
I actually care more about his opinions on Taco Bell tacos. Indeed, the Fiery Doritos Locos Taco Supreme is delicious…and an incredibly wordy food item.
It is, indeed, both of those things. It’s why I picked it. I might have also been hungry. It was late.
Yeah, I get that he’s trying to have a signature look and the fat knot apparently isn’t enough, but a short tie? The only people who wear short ties are 8-year-olds and 80-year-olds.
The fat knot has it’s tradeoffs. I like a fat knot, but to get the required length, it usually means the excess tie in the back is not long enough to fit through the loop. I usually end up needing a tie clip or needing to tuck that portion into the shirt (if the shirt isn’t white) to keep it from showing.
and fat guys whose big bellies mean all ties look small on them…

Yes, yes and yes. Some times, most times, things ARE as they appear.
A 12-pack perhaps, but no imports. Domestic only.
I’ve heard short ties are supposed to make other things look longer than they are.
Fat belly short tie just means you like to have fun on weekends! Totally acceptable!
How about manziel’s street creds?I hear tell the chipmeister, likes his players compliant to the rules, Is manziel ready to become a compliant soldier? Something tells me NO, ..EXcessive partying, lots of women . and late hours and living it up = trouble in today’s n.f.l.
