Who is Joe Gilbert?
|
Growing up with a disability, I never got to fulfill my dreams of playing sports in high school or higher, so I tried to be part of sports in other forms. Joining WFNY in 2014 has allowed me to do it through writing. Whether it’s the Browns, Cavaliers, or Indians, Cleveland sports are in my blood, and it brings me great joy to have people who want to read some of my thoughts on them. However, my interests do not end with those teams, and I am grateful WFNY allows me the opportunity expand beyond them. I love following high school football, the NFL Draft, and the NBA Draft. Watching and evaluating the next top talent is exciting and one of my main concentrations writing for WFNY. (( Outside of sports, I like to spend time with the family. ))
Five works that best describe Joe Gilbert from 2015
Here are five works from 2015 at WFNY that best describe who I believe I am as a writer. Each work has a word association captioned with it to describe the part of me I believe is described through it.
Browns film analysis: Browns Film Room: What is wrong with the Browns running game?
Browns film room pieces are one of my favorite things to write during the year. I know the Browns are not good, but I like to look at the film and see what is causing the problems or successes during the game. The film never lies. Looking at the film of games allows me to get a better picture of the team. It fulfills my urge to go beyond the score and stats by allowing me to examine the X’s and O’s.
NFL Draft Coverage: Best skills of the 2015 NFL Draft: Offensive Skill Players
My favorite part of the year is the NFL Draft coverage. I love the analysis of the NFL Draft and breaking down the college players. Just like the Browns film rooms, the NFL Draft coverage allows me to break down the film. Watching the college players and evaluating their prospects of playing in the league is a joy. I like to evaluate the individual skills, and determine which skills will translate best to the NFL. Ranking the prospects is just a fun endeavor that gives me the chance to be a mock general manager.
High School Football Coverage: NEO High School Football: Ohio High School Playoff Predictions
High school football is one of my favorite sporting events to watch and write about. Growing up, my father and I have always followed the area’s high school football season, including going down to the State Championships of Ohio when they were in Canton and Massillon. The passion still exists for me. I like watching the local hard working and developing talent, many who develop into star college players.
Appreciation of winning: What a difference a year makes for Cavs fans
In Cleveland, we are not drenched in a whole lot of winning situations, so when the Cavaliers made it all the way to the NBA Finals, I was enjoying every minute even though they fell short of a championship. The team turned into an elite NBA team in one year to become much watch TV. I appreciated the greatness of what I was watching and was thankful for every minute.
Glass half full: After the bleak week in Cleveland sports, Ohio State brightens up the state
Even though the city has suffered so much loss, I still have the state of mind to think that next year is the year.2 I get excited every preseason for the Browns, Cavaliers and Indians no matter what their prospects may look like. This past year, we saw a lot of tough situations, but I found the glass half full in the championship run of the Ohio State Buckeyes. I try to find the bright spot, even if it is dark as hell.

The Film Room is one of my favorite WFNY features, along with Winners and Losers and every single one of the While We’re Waitings. It’s obvious that you put a lot of work into this, Joe. Good job.
I have scored 86k dollars so far this year working online and I am a full time student. I am attached with an online business entity that I heard about and I have earned such great cash. It is really user friendly and I feel myself lucky to have that option. Why not try this.
