Browns wanted taxpayers to help move to Training Camp to Columbus

February 4, 2016WFAA Channel 8 in Dallas reported Colleen Crowley made some serious allegations against Johnny Manziel in a police report. The report indicates he physically abused her, threatened to kill both of them, and told her he would commit suicide. Additionally, the report indicates Crowley fears for her safety and drafted an order of protection to be presented to a Tarrant County (TX) judge. Manziel has denied all wrong-doing and told TMZ Sports “It didn’t happen.”
The Dallas police department said that no criminal complaint has been filed and the incident has been closed.

The Fort Worth police department initially kept its own investigation open, but that has been closed now as well.
Ft. Worth police also now say no offense occurred in its jurisdiction, and there is no criminal investigation against Johnny Manziel.

The WFAA report is gruesome in some of the details. In a situation eerily similar to his previous October incident, Manziel allegedly physically restrained Crowley to a vehicle, hit her hard enough for her to lose hearing in her ear, and verbally threatened her.
“He grabbed me by my hair and threw me back into the car and got back in himself,” she reportedly told police. “He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car. I realized immediately that I could not hear out of that ear, and I still cannot today, two days later.”
Crowley then reportedly hit Manziel several times, hoping to get out of the car, but, she told police, Manziel “threw me off of him” and she hit her head on the car window. She told police he would not give her her phone.
Sources say Manziel then got on Interstate 30 and began driving to her apartment in Fort Worth. While en route, she claims, she yelled at him, “I hate you!” He allegedly replied that “he was going to drop me off, take my car and go kill himself,” sources said.
It is uncertain at this time what happened on the January 30th night of this new incident, but the allegations could be part of what has prompted the new rumors that the Browns will part ways with Manziel once the NFL rules and the cap ramifications allow for it.

What would Johnny have to do over the next month for the Browns to say @#$% it and cut him, eating the money?
Manzelots looks like you might lose that “he hasn’t done anything illegal” line of defense!
My guess is Browns knew something else was coming which is why Sashi put out that organizational statement concerning The Deuce. As soon as the Browns can officially cut him it will most likely be done.
The Browns are still going to have to eat some money regardless, no?

The Browns owe Manziel the rest of his guaranteed contract (which is like $4.5M, according to what I’ve seen). He’s getting that no matter what.
To comply with NFL deadlines, the Browns (and every other team) have already rolled over their remaining cap space from 2015 into the 2016 season. So as of today, the Browns have zero cap space. The new season starts on March 9th. When Johnny gets cut, he’ll be owed that $4.5M right away, which will go against the cap for that particular year.
Even though Jimmy could probably sign a $4.5M check today for Manziel, as far as the League is concerned, the team has no money to pay the guy.
I’m not sure what the penalty would be if the Browns cut him anyway, but I imagine it would steam the NFL and NFLPA plus create some bureaucratic and legal problems for the team. This is why Sashi made it sound like League rules are preventing the team from dropkicking this guy to the curb. Because they are.
Crowley’s story is hard to read. I have friends who have been in abusive relationships with alcoholics/drug abusers and it sounds all too familiar.
Innocent until and all that, but she needs to gtf away from him.
I imagine this isn’t the story in which we try to keep score.
More distressing news.
Granted it’s only my impression, but I’ve had the feeling since the Avon incident that she isn’t any more stable than he is. Bad mix.
Pretty hard to prove this in court without another witness. So he didn’t do anything illegal.
True. But she’s more than likely complicit in the substance abuse, and therefore partly to blame. I hate that I wrote that, and it’s totally unPC, but it’s the truth. She, herself, was likely an enabler and an abuser, too.
That said, there’s no excuse for his punk-ass behavior. I’d still like to see the Browns try and trade him – business is business – but there ain’t no way I can ever root for him anymore. There, I said it.
I’m not concerned about dividing the blame. Whatever the particulars of their situation, whether this is all true or completely false, she needs to get away and stay away from him.
I wouldnt challenge league rules either. Not worth it.
This is sad and annoying to read in lots of ways. For a different take, can we charge millionaires extra for having money and STILL being a burden on the state?
Make sure you pray for him Scott. Just not before the people in Flint, Michigan or Sebring, Ohio who deserve it.
Probably why I chose the word “like” but good luck.
Neither Dallas, nor Ft. Worth are pressing charges.
Teflon John!

Everyone “deserves” prayers
If you say so.
No problem here guys. Michael Irvin is on it.
You can’t. League has to approve all transactions that have cap impact, they wouldn’t approve it, so it wouldn’t happen.
he hasn’t stabbed anyone. Yet.
Michael Irvin certainly knows how to deal with addiction, break the cycle, and create a life for himself afterwards. He is more qualified to help Manziel than I am.
Sorry about that comment…
I don’t think you could challenge on this regardless, that’s part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The other method the Browns could pursue is to attempt to fire Manziel with cause under the personal conduct clause. It would be difficult and the NFLPA would certainly fight it, but they could if they wish to do so. I suspect they’d rather write the check and move on.
We get it. You care about Flint.
Also wasn’t charged, and the police are saying the case is closed. That may be “Texas Justice” for a hometown hero; who knows. But there does not appear to be a criminal case.
Sounds like it’s over. Good for both of them, for all I know.
Also some weird reports coming out of this, too. She was “uncooperative” and “argumentative” with police. Because they were covering for “their boy?” Who knows? Also, when the police came to his parents’ home, he was apparently fine and was not even aware of anything going on. It’s all so ridiculously weird and ugly.
hard to prosecute when the sole witness starts refusing to cooperate.
True, which is very strange.
Yeah it seems that in every police scene, she’s the part of the crazy or perhaps on something. But then again Johnathan Francis Football has chosen said crazy broad. Yet another bad decision with very few, if any, in the good column.
I’m praying for Sham to have enough strength to pray for Johnny.
I thought it was “Fitzgerald.”
And, sadly common.
