March 16, 2016Browns terminate contract of much-maligned WR Dwayne Bowe
March 16, 2016Just minutes after bringing in a No. 56 by the way of free agency, the Cleveland Browns have parted ways with the man who held that number over the last two seasons, announcing the release of veteran linebacker Karlos Dansby.

In what will be spun as a move to save $3.5 million in cap space1, it appears that it was a mutual decision between both parties. Dansby is entering his age-35 season and, despite being the most consistent member of the team’s defense over the last two seasons, there would be no way for the veteran to win if he stayed in Cleveland.
Dansby signed as a free agent two offseasons ago, replacing long-time linebacker D’Qwell Jackson. In 28 games with the Browns, Dansby recorded 202 total tackles (110 solo), three sacks, three forced fumbles, and four interceptions—two of which were returned for touchdowns. In 2015, playing all 16 games, Dansby graded out as the No. 3 inside linebacker according to Pro Football Focus.
To pour out some liquor for Karlos, let’s all watch his 52-yard interception return from Week 12 of this past season.

“We want to thank Karlos for his service to the Cleveland Browns during the past two seasons,” Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown said via press release. “He was a dedicated, hard-working leader of our defense and we wish him the best as he continues his career.”
Meanwhile in Berea, the rebuild continues.

Haha, I had a similar one I came up with talking to my family about it. Sashi and DePodesta bought a fixer-upper, but when they saw how much damage it had, decided it was best to demolish the thing and build a new one.
I’m intrigued. Please email WFNY tips with an attention for my name if there is an early preview of it 🙂
