Cleveland Browns cash flow, movies, and Joe Banner trolling: While We’re Waiting…
March 11, 2016Browns expected to cut Manziel today if they can’t work out a trade
March 11, 2016As Johnny Manziel continues to sit on the roster awaiting either being cut or a desperate team taking a desperate flier on the troubled quarterback, the Cleveland Browns continue to engage in discussions with the San Francisco 49ers for another talented but erratic running quarterback in Colin Kaepernick.
There were rumors floating on Thursday that the 49ers and Denver Broncos had completed a trade for Kaepernick, but those rumors were squashed by NFL.com’s and noted friend of Hue Jackson’s Mike Silver. He announced Thursday night the deal with the Denver Broncos was not nearly complete and that the Browns were still in on Kaepernick.
To clarify: No deal yet between 49ers and Broncos for Kaepernick. Browns still in it. Not likely to happen tonight but fluid situation.

Furthermore, Kaepernick wants to play in Cleveland for Hue Jackson per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Here's a sentiment not many have shared recently: Colin Kaepernick wants to play in Cleveland. Respects Hue Jackson. Browns-Niners talking.

The now 28 year old quarterback burst onto the NFL scene taking over for an injured Alex Smith in 2012. The former second-round pick out of Nevada had the ability to run combined with an acute short-throw accuracy that gave the 49ers offense the boost it needed to complement a strong defense. Kaepernick kept the starting job even when Smith healed, and the 49ers added elements of the Nevada Pistol Offense to make a run all the way to the Superbowl. Despite a manic second-half comeback following a blackout, Kaepernick would come up short in just his 10th NFL start to the Baltimore Ravens. However, he left an indelible impression on the NFL.
The impression was not only due to running for running 181 with two touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers in the postseason, but he wears his Christian faith on his sleeve. Literally. Psalms 18:39 starts at his right shoulder and reads “You armed me with strength for battle; you humbled my adversaries before me.” Not all of his tattoos are religious themed, but many are.
Regardless of on the field success or failure, Kaepernick has always been a man to cheer off the field as he depicted when he told MMQB’s Peter King:
“And I want to have a positive influence as much as I can. I’ve had people write me because of my tattoos. I’ve had people write me because of adoption. I’ve had people write me because they’re biracial. I’ve had people write me because their kids have heart defects—my mom had two boys who died of heart defects, which ultimately brought about my adoption. So, to me, the more people you can touch, the more people you can influence in a positive way or inspire, the better.”
But, failure has been Kaepernick’s more recent on field narrative. The once lethal short yardage accuracy has left many wondering if Kaepernick was the NFL’s answer to Chuck Knoblauch. While his accuracy percentage is still an adequate 59% (62% his rookie season), the passes have not hit his receivers in stride as they once did leading his YPA (yards per attempt) to continuously drop each successive year (8.6, 7.8, 6.9, 6.2) along with his QB rating (98.3, 91.6, 86.4, 78.5).
Murmurs that the NFL has figured out his strengths and that he cannot overcome his weaknesses have been loud recently, but it is also possible he is the one stopping himself from achieving those initial heights. So, it is not surprising that teams in need of a quarterback such as the Broncos and Browns are attempting to trade for him while his stock is low and see if he can reignite those initial flames.
And heck, a 78.5 QB rating wouldn’t be the worst a quarterback has done for the Browns in recent years. And, with the recent departures of Alex Mack and Mitchell Schwartz, whoever is manning the helm for the team better be able to escape pressure.

FWIW, Dustin Fox said that a trusted source in the know told him that Farmer adamantly wanted Manziel and he did not cave in to the objections of the others in the room who adamantly did not want Manziel.
I’d say this “report” is more valid that the usual poo-flinging that comes from the national media. Fox doesn’t strike me as a devious sort of guy.
#1 shows weakness & #2 shows he at least stuck with a plan or theory.
#1. I look at #2 in a light more favorable to Ray. He was insistent on signing incompetent WRs, unwanted and discarded miscreants, little people, freaks. Sure it would have been easy to draft a big, fast WR who would capably catch balls, but Ray was like the Mother Teresa of GMs, taking in all the unwanted.
Well, if it’s the Germans, it’s probably early in the siege.
If it’s the Russians, it’s probably near the end.
didn’t anyone adhere to the study that bridgewater was the guy ? … anyone ?
NICE, LOVED THAT DUDE IN THOSE HARRY POTTER MOVIES.
You just wrote the entire story of the return of the Cleveland Browns in one sentence.
Take a bow.
That’s a fair point. Also, Joe T might free up some more. Can you prepare the sad little boy GIF for one more go around?
If it’s entirely frozen, then it’s probably the Russians. Honestly, I think I’d rather take my chances with the Germans (their sadism was at least personal) – but that means the port-o-potty isn’t frozen.
What were we talking about again? Oh yeah. Jonny Manziel. Of course!
“Hahahahaha. You think they had a plan?”

You’re on your own. I’ve been beating the “trade Joe” drum for months. That baby will be dancing if it happens.
Look with either of those cultures’ diets, I wouldn’t want to follow a German or a Russian. I’d much rather be in Berea playing for the Browns. I think.
Now I’m trying to think of a culture whose diet would support the notion of being okay in a tipped-over port-o-potty. I’ve been all over the world, and have stared down the business end of many public latrines, and I can’t think of one. Berea it is.
So, we’ve officially established the bar.
Playing for the Browns > Sitting in a frozen porta-potty during the battle of Stalingrad.
It’s perfect. And we’ve shown our work so that future generations can see how we can to that conclusion.
I think we’ve put in a good day’s work on this. Pack up your stuff and head home, guys. Tell your bosses I said it’s okay.
i would only say this about Kaepernick … he WANTS to come to cleveland … how many times do we hear that ?? if he actually has a choice (which he may not) & he wants to come to cleveland over the world champions … then bring him in. maybe the guy just needs a change of scenery.
Perfect…

That is mezmorizing…. are those a bunch of Travis Benjamins playing O-Line?
I say this because by pulling an existing offer to Schwartz it appears that this FO has decided not to worry about QB protection in the next few years, despite being way under the cap and having no player left that will cause a cap hit soon. They’re going for draft picks, and there’s just one guy left who can bring them, and he probably will be well past his prime when the young ones are ready to compete.
Well, I can’t argue with you here at all. Though Bitonio would offer a pick(s) as well. So would Duke Johnson, and maybe Crowell. I don’t think anyone would trade for anyone on our D but maybe Haden. That is it…
I guess when you have all the free time in the world you can create Madden teams with zero skills and play them against juggernaut teams where all the players are maxed out. Here is a video of someone doing it with the Browns… or is this a preview of the 2016/17 season???

Sure, but none with any upside.
hey , he got rid of it & showed a real nice quick release !!
Well, adding Kaepernick to that will not change that, as he doesn’t have any upside either.
Brock Osweiler is in their blocking (number 17)
Well, praise the Gods and Goddesses we were not stupid enough to trade for another ??? at QB…
It’s all about the Benjamins.
to each their own. Kaep had 2 years of great success. the last two years notsomuch. the question is if Hue can get him back there. Regardless, I’d rather he be our QB than McCown. But, Goff is the guy who it should be.
I agree with Goff. And, honestly, I would trade McCown for Kap, but I would not trade anyone else for Kap. I agree, long term, Kap would be better, but lets draft Goff and see where the “young” team goes…
yeah, as long as we have an OL who can not get him killed. interested to see who they expect to block the Von Miller’s of the NFL who now line up over the RT.
Last report from Mike Silver had the Broncos ok with Kaep’s contract but not OK with SF’s price. And just the opposite for the Browns, had agreed to trade compensations with SF, but not a restructured contract with Kaep. And the beat goes on……
I am getting a salary of 5800 dollars each week…op Over a year ago I was in a horrible condition , jobless and no bank credit . Thanks to one of my friends who showed me a way where I was able to gather myself and making average of 56 d/h. So it can change your life as it has changed mine.
