LeBron James the underdog: While We’re Waiting…
March 25, 2016Counterpoint: The downside to landing RG3
March 25, 2016Following the Cleveland Browns signing of quarterback Robert Griffin III Thursday, he had a conference call discussing not only the goals for himself, but the opportunity he has with his new team as well. Per cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, Griffin admitted that if the Browns were to select a quarterback with their No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft, he not only wouldn’t be angry, but would help in the development of the rookie as the Browns look to mold him into the quarterback of the franchise’s future.
“If they draft a quarterback, it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m just ready to compete…I’ll take the guy under my wing. I’m considered a vet now after four years in the league and I’ve been through a lot more than a lot of guys go through their entire career. I’ve got a lot of experience and I can help a young guy.
The Browns have been linked to both North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz and California gunslinger Jared Goff. If they do in fact select one of the two with their second-overall pick, the rookie would not only not be pressured to start right away if they cannot beat out RG3 for the starting nod, but would also be able to learn from a veteran who has been through so much, both on and off the field.
Griffin was nothing but positive when looking at he and the Browns’ future together, especially with Hue Jackson now leading the way.
“I’m just excited about the opportunity. After not playing football for a year, I’m real appreciative of the Browns stepping up and giving me an opportunity to go out and grow with their team, compete on a daily basis and lead the team. I’m real excited about that…Just [Hue Jackson’s] excitement for the game, the passion that he has and dedication. You have those things and things will eventually turn in your favor. He’s got a proven track record of working with quarterbacks, working with teams and molding the offense to what the team has. I look forward to growing with him.”
Following his first season in the NFL, one that he was named Rookie of the Year for his impressive play during the 2012 season, Griffin struggled, mainly due to injuries that he could not avoid. Following his rookie season in which he led the Redskins to a 9-7 record, he was just 5-15 the following three seasons, including not playing a single snap in 2015 and being named Washington’s third-stringer, behind Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy (yes, that Colt McCoy).
After a rough end to his time in Washington, he admitted that although he had to fight through a lot, he also learned from his experiences as well. Now, he’s ready to resurrect his career while donning the brown and orange and representing the Dawg Pound.
“It’s about the team, it’s about coach believing in this team and this city, otherwise he wouldn’t have taken the job and if didn’t believe in what I could do he wouldn’t have brought me to Cleveland with him, so I’m just really excited about the opportunity. It’s not about me or my career. It’s about this team and growing with this team and that’s what I set out to do…I learned it’s a beautiful game that we play, it’s a privilege to play the game and really just how much you have to love the game to go through some of the ups and downs.”
The 26-year-old’s past injuries are a looming question, but in the conference call, Griffin said that he is not only healthy, but doing great as well.
“I feel great. God’s been good through all the years. Maybe I’ll write a book about it later, but right now, I’m not focused on that kind of stuff and really, really happy to be feeling good and moving forward.”
For the first time in what seems like an eternity, the Browns finally have a quarterback who is not only garnering positive stories from the national media, but also Browns fans as well. RG3 acknowledged that he is excited to potentially be the quarterback that helps turn the team around and give the city what they have been waiting for a long time: Bring a winning team to the shores of Lake Erie.

“the rookie would not only not be pressured to start right away if they cannot beat out RG3 for the starting nod”
Dan Dierdorf approves this message.
after what happened to the cowboys the last couple of years after romo went down & they had to play weeden , cassel & others , you gotta believe they have a QB in their sights. they sit at #4 overall … if they truly covet wentz , i believe they will trade up into the #1 or #2 spot to get him … the titans will probably want too much to move out of the #1 spot , which leaves us as the most sensible trading partners with the cowboys.
NATE & some others brought up trading down … it might not be bad to trade down to #4 overall , get another draft pick & possibly still wind-up with the guy the HBT covets.
so many interesting plots & twists …
as for RGIII … we should just start with a clean slate with him & give him a chance … we’re hearing things like “he was a cancer in the locker room” … so what … let’s see what happens when he gets here. i said yesterday he may’ve just needed a change of scenery & a coach like Hue to help him get his head straight.
unless i’m wrong , it seems like jay gruden was trying to get RGIII to play his system instead of tailoring his system around RGIII’s talents … i think Hue will do the opposite & construct an offense around RGIII’s talents & strengths.
If we don’t trade out of 2, I think it would be amazing to draft Jalen Ramsey to qb the D. That guy is an fenominal athlete, and upgrade the Defense as a unit. With a decent line and a gm fantastic secondary with Haden coming back healthy and working in a system that suits him, they could pose some serious problems.
But trading back and adding picks makes a lot of sense from the building standpoint…
hi JEREMY … i think ramsey , tunsil , m.jack , bosa , wentz & goff are all worthy of #2 overall.
This little snippet might give us an indication of what we’re in for with this guy.

Oh brother. That mindset is simultaneously self-pitying and self-aggrandizing.
Tigers don’t change their stripes, leopards their spots, or drama queens their drama.
Ha ha! One of my favorites is the convoluted TV analyst blather that goes something like, “I’m not so sure that he’s not the best option to blah blah blah.”
This ranks behind only the tedious asking-myself-a-question blather, of which Mike Holmgrum was the master: “Do we wish that the game would have turned out differently? Yes. Are we unhappy with the result? Yes.” Do I want to blow my brains out whenever I hear this anti-clever way of speaking? Yes.
Under his wing eh?

When I looked at the draft of 6568 dollars, I have faith that brother of my friend was like really generating cash in his free time with his PC..ipb His aunt’s neighbor has done this for only 11 months and by now repaid the loan on their home and bought a new Car.
