Joe Haden could miss start of season following surprise ankle surgery
March 22, 2016Indians still exploring trade options for outfielders
March 22, 2016With all of the rumors and rumblings surrounding the Cleveland Browns and Robert Griffin III, questions have started to be asked about the current starting quarterback of the Browns, Josh McCown. After reporting that Cleveland and the man they call RG3 could reach a contract agreement this week, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports that the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Jets would all be interested in acquiring McCown if Griffin does in fact land with the Browns.
If Browns land RG3 there'd be outside interest in Josh McCown. DEN, CLE, LA possible. Signing him wouldn't take CLE out of QB draft market

Sorry – on McCown – Denver, LA, Jets would all be teams who likely would want to at least inquire on him if Browns complete deal for RG3

The Super Bowl-winning Broncos are in need of a quarterback following the retirement of Peyton Manning. The Rams have already named Case Keenum their starter, something they’d gladly change if possible. And, as of today, Ryan Fitzpatrick is still a free agent.
In his first season with the Browns in 2015, the 36-year-old â who will be 37 once the season starts this fall â battled through injuries and a concussion all season. In eight starts, he completed 186-of-292 pass attempts (63.7 percent) for 2,109 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. He also had 20 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown as well.
The Sam Houston State product who has played for seven teams since being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round in 2002, was never meant to be the future of the Browns, but yet a placeholder for whoever would be the next potential franchise quarterback in Cleveland. While many believe that the Browns will select a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming draft, including ESPN’s Mel Kiper and Todd McShay, the team has been on the lookout for a veteran to bring in as well. The team initially had their eyes set on San Francisco 49ers dual-threat quarterback Colin Kaepernick, but they now seem to have their entire focus on RG3. While all the momentum seems to be generating from Griffin, one thing is clear: Despite how well he played in 2015, the Browns are trying to find a younger replacement for McCown before the 2016 season.
Whether the Browns sign the former Baylor star or not remains the question, but with Griffin or McCown as the veteran quarterback on the team, Cleveland will still likely draft a quarterback with one of their early picks in the upcoming draft, whether it be at No. 2 or No. 32 (the first pick in the second round). Head coach Hue Jackson has made it clear that he wants his guy that he can develop from day one in the NFL.

LMFAO !!!!!!!!!!
Amen to that … and thank you !
… good one CHRIS !!
agreed…………cept for that whole Trump thing đ
But everything else I’m okay with (for now)
you had to bring that up , didn’t you … you see what happened in Belgium yesterday … Trump will wipe these freakin’ jokers out !!
Killing terrorists is a lot harder than you might think. Certainly harder than Trump (all of those jokers, really) makes it sound.
you’re probably right … but it doesn’t look like the Obama administration , NATO , or anyone else is taking ISIS & jihad as serious as they should … they could be doing much more.
we know who most of them are & where most of them are … go wipe their asses out.
We’ve had our discourse on this subject and we’ll leave it at that.
you are correct … have a good day , sir.
Who should go?
a worldwide coalition led by the US … enough is enough. they need a real good hurtin’ put on ’em … i know they will never stop , but hit ’em real hard right now.
But who will “hit them?” Will you go?
first , bomb the sh!t out of them , then put special forces / coalition on the ground … i am 53 years old , but would go if necessary. heck , we may be fighting them off here if we don’t address it.
no , war is not pretty … but what would you do about these extremists ??
I’ve already done my part, and would do it again if called. Just curious where you stood on that. Politicians and political candidates speak really forcefully and loudly about stuff like this, but not a single person running right now has had any skin in that game. Talk is cheap, is all I’m saying. (Not you; them.)
i salute you !! … we already underestimated them before & they kicked our ass .
The Cleveland attempt:

think of this too … if the browns play as bad as most on this page think they will , with 0 – 2 wins , ole miss QB chad kelly will be there next year & imo , he is better than any QB in this draft.
Don’t fall in love with any college QB yet. Remember that at this time last year, Christian Hackenberg was the no-doubt-about-it stud QB of this draft class.
Agreed.
you’re right … but as i look at hackenberg , he still might be best QB in this draft … he played on an awful team & i think it messed with his psyche.
… and man , chad kelly is special .
He is? I honestly had never heard of him until your comment and I didn’t see Ole Miss doing anything special this year. And I’ve gotta say, you simply cannot count on the Browns being in position to draft him. That just isn’t realistic based on Hue Jackson’s head coaching history. I think it’s much more reasonable to assume the Browns will win around 6 games and be out of position to draft Kelly.
hi PAT … chad is the nephew of hall-of-fame QB jim kelly … ole miss went 10-3 this year , and remember , that is in the SEC. they had a very good season.
kelly has the strongest arm i have seen in a while … he did chuck 31 td’s , had 13 int’s & had a 155 passer rating. he will no doubt be a top 3 pick next year , if not the #1 overall pick.
i totally understand what you’re saying about not counting on it … but if the browns do finish as bad as some of the posters over here think , the browns very well may have a top 3 pick again next year.
i already have the browns winning at least 5 games next year … mostly due to Hue , his coaching staff & the HBT.
Aren’t wins and losses team stats?
Did Manziel lose in OT vs the eventual SB champs? All the while, getting clobber to near death? I like McCown, and wins and losses belong to the 22 players who play the football game… Dilfer was on a team that won a SB, dude certainly didn’t win it by himself…
They both have Terrel Pryor as well đ
Sooooo… Trump is going to lead a worldwide coalition? Militarily? Can you run a world war with international business as a background? Just curious where the mindset of Trump being a badass with his finger on the trigger, comes about? There are no doovers, as you know, in international dealings, and ISIS isn’t exactly sitting in a country, all together, NOT surrounded by innocent men, women, and children… Kinda hard to just bomb the hell out of them. WOuldn’t you think that if it was that easy, someone (us NATO, Russia) would have already done that?
Why not? Assuming we get Josh Gordon back, that gives us an offense with Gordon, Barnidge, a cornucopia of solid slot receivers, Joe Thomas, Joel Bitonio, Yo Mama, John Greco, Duke Johnson, Crow… there’s really only a couple of unknowns on offense. I really like how Austin Pasztor played last year and I think he plugs one of the OL spots. Current question marks (if we did grab Goff) at center or right tackle, WR2, and… fullback perhaps.
Why not? Because I have always been optimistic and then subsequently let down. I’m trying the opposite approach.
But, I will say that C and RT are huge question marks (as is Gordon’s return). What we do there this off-season could mean the world.
So, as “currently structured,” I still say that Goff is in for a world of hurt. Obviously, we’ll find bodies to fill in at C and RT, but “bodies” may not be good (especially if one of those bodies is in the shape/form of Erving). If Gordon is NOT reinstated, then Goff (or Wentz – I’m a Wentz guy, if we’re going to draft a QB) will be in the same boat as every other Browns QB (i.e., SS Sinksalot).
Apart from that, our defense needs massive, massive help. This all continues to lead me to the conclusion that the Browns are better off drafting stud players at every non-QB position this year.
And I’m just determined to not be optimistic for once, despite my natural, cheery disposition. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me every year since 1999 . . . .
I like Wentz too, but it’s close for me. The defense is what I’m most worried about. There’s a scenario to be optimistic in that the defense was looking pretty good and trending upward 2 seasons ago, then the exact same players performed horribly when Jim O’Neil took over the defensive play-calling duties. That seems very suspect to me given that everyone believed we were going to have an excellent defense at the beginning of the season. But hey, this is the Browns we’re talking about and maybe these players just weren’t as good as we originally thought.
Austin Davis is a very serviceable back up and much younger, too. Josh has been a real trooper for us and deserves to be dealt or cut sooner than later should RG3 be signed. At a minimum I could see a conditional pick offered for him and this regime looks as if they will covet as many picks as they can get.
hi JEREMY … every president , from the beginning of time , has had a cabinet , advisers & military advisers … so , that is a non-issue.
i think many are underestimating Trump … he is not a dummy & neither are the millions of followers who are fed-up with the lying , money-grubbing , do-nothing elites in washington.
and as far as ISIS … we know where most of them are … the ones who are in military vehicles , armed & flying the flag are the ones you bomb first & then send in the foot soldiers … it the ones who are hiding in society that will be hard to find. which , by the way , they are not doing nearly enough to get this done.
everyone is worried about being politically correct & “that’s not what america is all about” … these are different times … should we just be allowed to just let anyone (mexicans , muslins , whoever ) into this country when we should be taking care of our own first ???
… and it IS that easy … obama is not doing all that he can do … and everyone knows it. sometimes i believe he is half-sympathetic with them , with him being a muslim himself … he has already said : “when the time comes he will be on the side of the muslims” … maybe not the extremists , but it’s in him … he still , to this day , will not call Jihad & muslim extremists what they are.
hi PAT … there’s a difference , the browns are horrible right now & he would immediately be the best QB on our team … that is why i think he’d be the starter.
We’re kind of going in circles. Your assumption is based on the fact that you don’t think the Browns are drafting a QB at #2. If they do want to draft a QB at #2 then RG3 is the obvious backup.
no … i said if the browns get RGIII , i didn’t want them to take a QB at #2 overall .
after thinking about it more , i have seen the light on your way of thinking , that if they do get RGIII , they should stiil take wentz or goff at #2 overall , if they think one of them is THE guy.
and there is no guarantee that wentz or goff would automatically be the starter over RGIII.
I completely disagree with your take, I’m no huge Obama fan. What the public knows, and what is actually happening in the middle East and all over the world are very different things, and for good reason. We have secrets that we keep “secret” for a reason. To pretend that our president is an ISIS sympathizer, or that we aren’t involved in operations run by the current military cabinet, seems, at best, silly to me. But will agree to disagree here… and still agree on being Brown’s optimists….
thanks … have a good one , JEREMY.
the browns just signed RGIII
Indeed! We may get to see our theoretical scenario come to life… now the question remains if they pay him like a starter or pay him like a guy who is competing for a job.
7 mil for one year and 22 mil for 2
That’s with incentives… i think it’s only $6.5M per year guaranteed money.
I don’t think they should take a QB at 2nd either way but now definitely not i would roll the dice and maybe take one at 32 … and if they did the last thing they should do is start them the first year .. a rookie QB need to sit and learn unless you want 25 QBs in 16 years … oh wait
retort to your retort a great college QB is not necessarily even a serviceable NFL QB
that falls flat as it applies to all QBs in every year đ
