The Cleveland Browns are worse today. Period.
March 10, 2016A (Sort of) Grand Finale: Cavs-Lakers, Behind the Box Score
March 11, 2016While many Cleveland Browns fans continue to lick their wounds from losing four starters, another familiar name is headed out of town. Special teams ace Johnson Bademosi has landed a really impressive and lucrative deal for a special teams player as he joins the Detroit Lions. No shock that Adam Schefter had the news on Twitter.
Lions making Johnson Bademosi one of highest-paid special-teams players in league: 2 year, $4.5M with incentives that could bring it to $6M.

Bademosi is a bit of a different case than the rest of the Browns’ departures thus far. Bademosi was a great player for the Browns, but he really started to get exposed as he played meaningful snaps in the defensive secondary.
Killer ST player, but Bademosi on Steelers WRs this year was one of the most comically futile things in sports history.

That said, it’s really nice to see a tough, smart player from Stanford who defied the odds of going undrafted in 2012 to the point that he signed a legit NFL contract for two years and what could be as much as $6 million.
Bademosi will be missed on the Cleveland Browns’ special teams unit, but I’m just really happy for him. That’s a lot of money for a special teams player and I’m happy to see the hard work and on-field results pay off for him. It’s especially impressive because it comes as a gunner and a cover guy as opposed to Josh Cribbs who was able to do that and also crush it on returns.
Lastly, Johnson Bademosi might have been the most interesting Brownscast of the year as Max Linsky interviewed Browns players. Bademosi talked about his past playing rugby and his duties as the Browns’ player rep for the player’s union.
He’s a really interesting guy and now he’s become a rarity by earning that second contract as an undrafted player that wasn’t even invited to the combine.

likable guy … but not worth making him the highest paid ST player in the nfl … especially when you’re rebooting.
oh , no … “Haslam is not spending money !!” … gimme a break.
I regret his leaving only because it means I can no longer tease a guy at work who thought Bademosi had the chance to be “the next big thing.” (This guy also really liked Carlton Mitchell, Willie Snead, Bloodbath, etc.)
What we’re seeing is a mass migration of Berean refugees.

Good for him! I hope he does well for them and can get the full $6 mil!
