Watch: Browns WR Corey Coleman’s path to the draft
April 29, 2016Watch Emmanuel Ogbah’s college hightlights
April 29, 2016After the Browns selected WR Corey Coleman with their first round pick yesterday, the Browns decided to go defense. The Cleveland Browns selected EDGE Emmanuel Ogbah with the first pick of the second round, No. 32. Ogbah is a 6-foot-4, 273-pound edge rusher from Oklahoma State. He played in 13 games last season, netting 64 tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss, 13 sacks, 19 quarterback hurries and three forced fumbles. He fits an immense need for the Browns, getting a strong and athletic edge rusher. He was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Big 12 last season. The rusher was born in Nigeria, but moved to Texas at age nine.
Ogbah is not only a good physical prospect, but he's reportedly a guy who is a great influence on teammates. Great citizen off the field.

Ogbah is ranked No. 29 on NFL Network’s Mike Mayock’s Big Board. He was one of the workout warriors at the NFL Combine, running an incredible 4.63 second 40-yard dash at 273 pounds. NFL.com says this about the Oklahoma State Cowboy:
STRENGTHS: Thick, powerful frame with broad shoulders. Came into school undersized but has grown into his frame with weight work. Able to absorb contact and play through it. Tough for linemen to redirect and is too much for tight ends one-on-one against the run. Some of the most power hand slaps you will find in college football. Able to brush away a weak punch with ease. At times, flashes unusual ability to trim the edge with power over speed. Uses power and a late rip move to win around corner. Plus speed-to-power rusher who created instant bull rush movement. Has power to win at the point of attack and capture the neutral zone while posting consistent production. Has posted a full sack or more in 16 of his last 21 games and finished 2015 with 17.5 tackles for losses. Has played both end positions, bumped inside and plays with a hand up and down.
WEAKNESSES: Shows some stiffness in his hips and is not a dynamic athlete. Inconsistent awareness. Reaction time can be quick, but awareness of developing plays needs improvement. Short-circuits his point of attack power when he turns his shoulders and gets washed down. Limited stride length hurts upfield burst. One speed pass rusher who is easy to find. Unable to burn the edges with quickness. Needs to disengage more quickly from bull rushes. Could stand to step up his motor and pursuit effort.
The Browns definitely improved their defensive front seven with this pick. The Browns are far from done on Day 2. The team holds three third round picks later tonight, for now at least!
I am a Cleveland Brown!!!!

Here’s a video talking about Ogbah from the people who covered him closely in college.

I’m on board. Would have loved Jack, but this kid can play.
I think Hue is targeting Hackenberg at QB.. Played great under O’Brien for one year prior to James Franklin derailing his development. Hue probably thinks he can coach him up.
A little underwhelming sexy-wise, but for all I know, he could be the defensive equivalent of Joe Thomas.
Gotta give the HBT the benefit of the doubt; they’re competent until proven incompetent.
Every time I heard Connor Cook’s name mentioned as a possible 32nd pick, I became nauseated.
While you or I may see an edge rusher, Sashi Brown sees Emmanuel Ogbah as a series of ones and zeroes.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Solid pick and safer than Jack. Although without my job on the line, Jack was my pick. Still need a RB and another WR, Safety and Guard/Center. Actually a little reassuring we didn’t trade back as these start to become value areas. The hell with a QB pick. I think we stick to veterans this year.
Uh, okay I guess.
I don’t like that they never held a private workout or even pre-draft meeting with him though.
That. Sounds. Familiar.
Just got back from dinner.
No Jack.
No Dodd.

Can’t wait to see the look on Sashi’s face when his ones and zeros get their asses kicked by flesh and blood.
Here ya go. http://thecubicle.us/images/tissue1.jpg
Nope. Jets got him first.
There is a reason that nerds have taken over every component of all of our lives. Those 1s and 0s work better.
note: 2016 Browns are not going to be a good team though
reading up on Dodd I did find quite a few people worried about his transition to a 3-4. Ogbah has no such concerns. Might just be a scheme fit thing between those two.
Living in BigXII country, Ogbah is well-known for being a good character guy. We’ll see and all, but seems we are going after “good eggs” this year.
Ok, Nassib…not bad.
Scooby Wright better be our next pick.
I like focusing on the front 7 with Ogbah and Nassib, a nice change from Pettine’s obsession with the back 4.
Between these 2 and last year’s second-day picks of Nate Orchard and Xavier Cooper, we certainly have quantity and depth in this area. Hopefully a couple of these guys really break out and our pass rush and run defense starts to show a pulse in the second half of 2016.
I did read that same report but honestly I don’t like them taking someone with their second pick they didn’t at least have a face to face chat with on the player skills set and the teams vision for them.
I think people forget the Draft is a job interview, not an auction.
You have to make sure the candidate and the team both agree they fit.
I mean I can see you not getting to talk to your 3rd round picks and beyond but never meeting personally with your 2nd round is just not ideal.

My report is more what people have said about him over the past couple years…mostly when OkieState was playing the Longhorns. Highly circumstantial and quite possibly biased. But, better than the alternative message.
So glad he’s not a Brown. And frankly, glad that Cardale isn’t a Brown either. Puts that much more weight on a guys’ back when he’s the homegrown hero.
Wow, nabbed him at 250. A little value…
Scooby in the dawg pound. I think he has to make the team.
Yes, entrusting an analytics-driven team of Ivy League grads to run a complex organization – what could go wrong?! 😉 https://fortunedotcom.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/gettyimages-504001054.jpg?w=840&h=485&crop=1
