Pavano seems pretty focused with all the trash talk and booing going around. And the homers continue…

    Garko 2-run blast.

I’m nervous about putting Perez in…let’s hope he breaks through.

Why the F does Wedge put in Perez in close situations. He doesn’t have it. We are definitely at the point where sending him down to get some of his stuff back makes alot of sense.

    Agreed, Eli. (Sigh.)

Biggest load of crap ever. Can you appeal a game even if the play you’re appealing was instant replay reviewed?

the HR should be overturned PRIMARILY because the d.b. fan is over 40 and bringing a glove to the game….

MLB is going to have some explaining to do after this one is all said and done…

  • 10. April 19, 2009

LOTS of explaining… the Indians are probably writing their protest letter here in Cleveland as we speak…

yea so if there was a live blog for this i have a hard time imagining the family friendly rules would have survived.

Four games in the series. The only two games that the Yanks were competitive had to do with officiating. Cuzzi’s strike three on a neck-high cutter and now this?

Why are the Yankees allowed to build their new stadium with HR walls so fricken close to the fans. In every stadium I can think of, they at least make an effort to make the wall thick so a fan could less conceivably reach over into the field of play, or the wall is high enough that a jumping catch wouldnt be possible anyway. The Yankees seem to encourage this crap.

  • 14. April 19, 2009

Eli, they have to justify their $100,000 per ticket season ticket packages by allowing fans to cheat visiting teams. For that kind of money, I would want to be IN the action too.

  • 15. April 19, 2009

Yea, Eli. Good luck on telling a Yankee fan that he or she can’t do whatever he/she wants. Entitlement at its fullest.

Bullpen is blowing this one now. Yeah we got robbed on the interference call but Betancourt is just stinking up the place.

What a joke. That call. That stadium. Our bullpen…

While I agree it was obvious fan interference (and that GROWN man with the glove was clearly being a total d bag) the bullpen should have never let it gotten to that…

    oh well… Go Cavs

Love that Pavano might actually be decent.
    Hate our F’in bullpen.

NO MORE givin Perez the ball unless we are up 6 or down 6.

I don’t care about the bad calls, we were in position to win both of the games we lost in the series and didn’t because of the bullpen. I am tired of stupid decisions by Wedge in the pitching matchups. Where was Joe Smith and why does he only ever pitch to one guy, who he strikes out? We should have had both these games. Yes the calls didn’t help, but if the bullpen holds, who cares?

And Pavano looked really good. Maybe he doesn’t suck.

I blame the bullpen and the sun for this lose. Did you guys see Choo not making that catch since the sun was right on his eyes.

A Pyrrhic victory, if it means Pavano has come to life again. The series, as a whole, was very promising: the team is hitting; it may well have its starters on track again. Now, as for the bullpen, which wasn’t supposed to be the issue…

A Pyrrhic victory is a very costly victory. We didn’t win, so you can’t even call it that.

And to agree with other thoughts above, the problem is primarily Wedge’s decisions about who from the bullpen to put in when. I don’t know why it’s so obvious to all of us right when he puts them in that the decisions he makes are dumb, but apparently not at all obvious to him. I’ve wondered if Shapiro ever gets on his case about this, but I guess not. If we’re going to suck this year, I’d at least like to see Wedge removed, though it’s hard to see what lows we’d have to hit for that to actually happen.

  • Lars
    24. April 19, 2009

In Wedge’s defense, there’s like one guy who hasn’t sucked in the bullpen this year and he has injury history and needs to be available in the 9th because no one else has the fortitude to actually close games… so unless you happen to know if Good Raffy or Evil Raffy (R or L) is going to show up, it seems to be a crap shoot.

  • LaundroMat

Lars – the point we’re making is that at least part of the reason that the bullpen is sucking is Wedge’s mismanagement of them. So much of relief pitching is psychological. Wedge gets it with Joe Smith, who’s supposed to be a “matchup” pitcher, and I’ve not seen him abuse Wood yet, but he seems to treat the rest as if they were interchangeable parts, which isn’t the case.
