While We’re Waiting aims to be the round-up of the recent WFNY-esque information for your morning viewing. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email in the sidebar.

Though I still despise him for costing me money in a fantasy league, I could live with this: “Terry McCormick of the Nashville City Paper is reporting this afternoon that ex Titans and Rams WR Drew Bennett will be coming to Cleveland for a physical and a workout. Despite adding two receivers in last weekend’s NFL draft, the Browns remain somewhat thin at that position.” [The OBR]

Here’s an update for those of you that bought stock in Tribe minor leaguer Randy Newsom ['64 and Counting]

Feeling creative, Browns fans? “I’m a huge movie fan! I just want to know which movie star do I most remind you of? It doesn’t have to be a physical resemblance, could also be personality and mannerisms. Provide a good explanation in the comments and I’ll pick the winner.” [D'Qwell Jackson's Blog]

So long, San Antonio: “It truly is the end of an era, as one by one the old guard is falling down. The first to fall was Shaquille O’Neal, who missed the playoffs for the first time since 1993. Next up? The Pistons, ousted over the weekend by the Cavaliers, marking the first time in seven years they’ve failed to play in the Eastern Conference Finals. And then on Tuesday night the Spurs were the next to go, ungraciously dumped from the playoffs on their home floor by the Mavericks. It’s the first time since 2000 that the Spurs have failed to win at least one playoff series, and it’s the first postseason of Tim Duncan’s career that he’s actually played (he missed the 2000 playoffs with a knee injury) and lost in the first round.” [Matt Watson/NBA FanHouse]

Holding down the middle: “By playing in the AFC North, the Browns face a 3-4 defense six times a season. Throughout the NFL, this style is popular once again as more teams are adjusting to this scheme. For an offensive line, the center position becomes even more critical. Finesse centers are no longer desired since they have a habit of getting abused by larger nose tackles. Fraley has played a solid 10 years in the NFL was exposed by those 3-4 nose tackles last season.” [No Logo Needed]

Do the Bengals play a 3-4 now?

  • 2. April 29, 2009

DP-No, but everyone still associates Marvin Lewis with the 3-4 because of Baltimore.

I like it, bring in Bennett, we have Patten, gives them solid veterans to learn from. Plus Bennett mixed with Patten at the very least equals Joe…right?

I’ve also been a fan of Drew Bennett. Not sure what he has left, but wouldn’t mind brining him in. Like Jack said, it gives the rookies a few mentors with similar playing styles. If anything else, it would possibily give Quinn or Anderson a big target to throw to.

NO TO BENNETT!! How many 3 WRs do we need?!?! By my count we already have 4.

With Patten on the roster already, Bennett just seems like overkill.

Injuries…rookies…Braylon Scissorhands….I say let’s get all the guys into camp that can catch the ball.

I liked Bennett but heard 2 years ago he got everybody ticked b/c he was cutting his routes off like KJ used to do. But every year, one of these guys blows a hammy and is done for….. so some training camp competition is good. Good for the red zone.

This is a little off topic, but still Browns talk, but is anyone else interested in Travis LeBoy? I mean the guy is a bit injury prone, but offers great pass rushing ability from the corner. I don’t see it happening with the addition of Kenyon Coleman, but I think he could offer some much needed assistance.

    Oppie…stay tuned for that.

re: Bennett – add another item to the list of indicators that Braylon still may be gone before game 1.
