April 14, 2014Kyrie Irving continues to screw with Cavs fans
April 14, 2014The pendulum appears to be swinging in the opposite direction—and quickly. It wasn’t long ago that mock drafts had the “Big 3” quarterbacks all being selected within the first four picks. Today, headlines are screaming that not only will this not be the case, but one of the quarterbacks may not even be selected on the NFL Draft’s first day.
Profootballtalk’s Michael David Smith is “hearing more talk” in league circles that the draft stock of this year’s top-rated quarterbacks is “dropping.” SI.com’s Peter King added fuel to this fire in his MMQB column, stating the Browns—along with the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Oakland Raiders—are “strongly considering” passing on QBs at the top of the draft, “and waiting until their second or third selections.” Many pundits are grouping Derek Carr, Zach Mettenberger, Tom Savage, Jimmy Garoppolo, and A.J. McCarron as a second tier that doesn’t have as big of a drop from the first as in years past.
In 2013, it was West Virginia’s Geno Smith who went from Top-10 lock to a second-day selection in a matter of days. Bortles and Manziel appear to be first-round locks as they haven’t given much reason for a slide. With a dreadful Pro Day and lukewarm grades being handed out to quarterbacks, could Teddy Bridgewater be the next to follow suit? Reports are circulating that even Bridgewater’s private workouts have been shaky. This would be the kind of fall that if it were to happen in a fantasy draft, two-thirds of the league would be Googling for unbeknownst injury news; the other third would be using last year’s magazine.

All this means is that nobody knows nuthin’.
If the headline is implying that this would mean Teddy B. could be available for the Browns then sign me up.
Watkins at 4 and Bridgewater at 26? I’d take that in a heartbeat!
Ah, Goodell has got to be rolling in his office these days with all of the crazy articles that are getting written about the draft as sites are desperate for something new to discuss despite not having anything new with all games been done for months and most workouts also completed.
At least 3 QBs will be selected in the 1st round and one of those will be Teddy Bridgewater. It may be my opinion, but it is a very strong one.
i think they should never have moved the draft back. I think it’s become tune-out season. I really get excited about the draft at the end of February, feel the simmering through march, and then have it explode in April.
Now, it just feels overcooked to me.
To some extent, it would be nice if Ray Farmer provided some type of clue as to who they’re going to draft first next month.
This has to be my favorite mock draft ever: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl-mock-draft/2014/4/14/5609318/2014-nfl-mock-draft-teddy-bridgewater-johnny-manziel?utm_source=sbnation&utm_medium=nextclicks&utm_campaign=articlebottom
“Minnesota trades picks 8, 72, 96, 108 to the Browns for the fourth overall pick.”
Such hilarious specificity!
I agree. Feels like a miscalculation to me – classic case of not leaving your audience wanting more
Old Roger will gladly fill the void with the addition of 2 more reg season games. I suspect that’s part of his master plan.
yes, we should give that away like Butch did with Winslow* so that the team ahead of us has time to leak to sources that they want the same guy and have us overpay with a 2nd round draft pick.
*also accepting the answer of like Holmgren did with Richardson
That would be tempting if Watkins was not available at #4.
He’s kept the NFL at the forefront of sports news for an extra month, even though baseball is in full swing, and the NBA is approaching the playoffs.
Just The Shield reminding the NBA and MLB who’s in charge.
Did someone say tempting?
If Sammy is gone and we can trade #4 for 8, 72, 96, 108 and their 2015 second rounder…ummm, yeah…tempting may be putting it mildly.
Ah yes, but what if that clue makes everyone to believe Ray will choose player A when he has already decided on player B instead, hmmm?
Like saying a certain qb reminds us of a fictional character perhaps
Sorry, thought the JFF joke was obvious enough without the gif 🙂
They have like all four of the top picks being traded back for ridiculousness lol

But that came from a coach, right?
pretty sure that we shouldn’t take anything a coach or front office person says over the next few weeks very seriously.
Indeed, we should not. Therefore, I’m going to my happy place until the draft occurs.
Cheers!!
