June 25, 2014Looking for Love? The Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly tried to acquire Kevin Love in a deal centered around the Cavs’ No. 1 pick, but Love’s refusal to re-sign with the Wine and Gold has “killed talks.”

The Cavs’ No. 1 pick has been the subject of endless trade speculation. In addition to their reportedly failed attempt at acquiring Love, they’ve allegedly fielded offers from the Magic (Arron Afflalo and picks Nos. 4 and 12), the 76ers (Thaddeus Young and No. 3), and the Jazz (Derrick Favors and No. 5). Additional reports on Wednesday suggest that the Wolves may wait until LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony—both players recently opting out of their respective deals—are signed as free agents before aggressively pursuing a trade involving Love.
The Cavs, meanwhile, have reportedly remained undecided on the top selection as ESPN’s Chad Ford reports that the front office and ownership team are each pulling for different players, the former wanting Jabari Parker while the latter is yearning for Andrew Wiggins.

Good! That whole “get him for one-year” thing was never going to fly. I’m glad they had the sense to walk away.
Smart on all sides. Love would be stupid to commit here given the recent track record and instability. Cavs would be stupid to risk giving up a lot on a one year shot to woo him when they are introducing a rookie HC and a new system.
Cavs did their due diligence. Let’s move on.
Ah, good old ESPN drumming up some FO v. Owner discord. I find it hard to believe that it is so finely split. If so, it would be the 2nd time such reported discord has me siding with Gilbert (1st: No Entry to Gentry).
Per ESPN Sources Gilbert was still frantically trying to get Calipari on the phone during Blatt’s presser today.
“Ownership team” should be two words that scare Cavaliers fans to death. Gilbert is his own worst enemy STILL!
Gilbert has shown a propensity to interfere with his team and to date it’s been largely a mess. I wish he would have learned from his past mistakes.
LOL
What decision has he definitely interfered?
Grant felt comfortable enough to hire friend Mike Brown and lesser known prospects in the draft.
^ this ^ many times over.
