Breaking News: David Dellucci Designated for Assignment

Better late than never, right?
To make room for Rafael Perez who will make the trip back up Rt. 71, the Indians have decided that the David Dellucci experiment has come to an end.
Since coming off of the disabled list, Dellucci has hit .275 in 14 games, but has oviously fallen out of the rotation as he has seen only two plate appearances (both in pinch hit situations) since May 18th. The future of the outfield did not have him in the plans, so rather than sending someone else to Columbus, the team has opted to part ways.
Of course, if he clears waivers, he could wind up being DP’s problem as he covers the Clippers throughout the season.
For those wondering about Perez since he left us, he went 1-0 through nine innings of shutout baseball, fanning nine and walking only three. Hopefully, he can carry this success as he heads back to the Indians bullpen. His ERA with the big boys currently stands at 15.19 through 10.2 innings.

“…and there was much rejoicing”
As a blogger, this news crushes me. I need a new lightning rod of derision on the Indians, now…
Y HALO THAR, MASA!
i never thought this would happen! this just makes Friday even better!!!
Hit the Road Noodle Arm!
About time … Congrats TD this came a bit differently than I thought it would but I’ll be happy to see him gone (or in columbus if it comes to that)
single tear
if perez returns to form, our bullpen will have gone from god awful to pretty good in a week. hodges and aquino have been great, betancourt is good again, and wood might turn it around. who knows, maybe the indians aren’t terrible
As soon as I heard the news I rushed over here to see the reaction. This was a long time coming, and though he’s a nice guy, I won’t miss Dellucci at all.
I think it is I-71 not Route 71. But Route 71 does have a nice ring to it.
Either way, dumping Delluci is probably a good idea.
TD’s on the road today, hence the reason we don’t have rainbows and pots of gold all over the site.
If he was here, he’d find a way to make your browser do cartwheels.
Time to change the banner.
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
To quote the great Billy Ray Valentine”
“What a Happy Day!!!!! What a Happy Day!!!”
Of course this happens on a day that I am travelling for work.
“IF he clears waivers” ?? That’s like saying “IF someone wants to trade for DA” … I mean come on, DD’s worse than Lee Stevens.
[...] a loss kind of overshadowed the news that made us all run around our offices screaming in joy, the news that the Looch has been designated for assignment. The Tribe brought in a new prospect for BP yesterday, who quickly roped a shot to left – one [...]
Time to change the banner???
Now that Dellucci is gone,so I can keep up,who will you be blaming for the Tribes fall now…DD only had 40 at bats…Sizemore,Peralta,Garko, etc have seen the plate, and often ,only the plate many more times…the Tribe is hurting…pitching is bad…I pray every night that your “baseball gods” see fit to trade DeRosa…he deserves better…comments have been made about his playing, poorly, at third base,he never promoted himself as a third baseman,he was second base/utility with the Cubs ,once or twice at third, he didn’t sign with the Tribe..he was traded, the Tribe placed him at third, now there’s complaints.I don’t understand the Tribe fans and press,I’ve never run into a more un-friendly group of folks in my life, they boo their team, ditch ‘em when they are down, the stadium is rarely even 1/3 full, only this weekend did we see a large crowd…of Yankee fans..what’s up? I admit I’m new to the Cleveland area, but I’ve been to games in Philly,Chicago,NY, etc,win or lose, the stands are packed ,perhaps if the team received a little more positive response from the fans, the bloggers, and the press, they’d have a little more insentive to play better,I know they make a huge amount of $$,and they are professionals, and no matter how the fans feel about Wedge,he can’t hold their hands and make any of them hit the ball…but maybe more support from the fans would help?
[...] at his game on both DDD and WFNY, but his play warranted the criticism. Thankfully, on May 29th, The Indians designated Dellucci for Assignment. Of course, DD went unclaimed and ended up signing a minor league deal with [...]
