If you read The Diatribe (which you should) then you know Paul and friends are up at Wrigley Field for the series against the Cubs. I point this out mostly to say that I’m jealous. That’s all. Mark DeRosa and Kerry Wood have a ‘homecoming‘ of sorts. Look for new Indian Mike Gosling to make an appearance today. Personally, I think the Indians are just going for some sort of record for in-season transactions. As always, the comment section is open.

and with a combined 163 years of no world series success, ladies and gentlemen your 2009 Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians!

  • 4. June 19, 2009

For anyone who happens to have the MLB iPhone app – today is a great day. Live streaming video is now available, and the Tribe game is included. Select games to start, every game is coming somewhere down the line!

If you don’t have it, get it – it’s only $10. Keeps people away from home dialed in. So pumped to use it this weekend, tomorrow’s game is on as well.

I have to say Wrigley is one of the few parks that I have on my sports bucket list.

First pitch is scheduled for 3:45 ET/ 2:45 CT … radar looks like we should be able to get about 7 innings in for sure before the next storms comes here in Seattle/Chicago

seriously it’s been 20 straight days of rain or cloudy skies … I’m thinking about building an ark

Just curious, does anyone know if DeRo got a standing ovation from the Chicago faithful in the first? I would assume so..

  • 14. June 19, 2009

Yes, DeRosa did indeed get a nice ovation…

  • 15. June 19, 2009

In case you were wondering, Cliff – that’s run support coming from your offense.

    Thought you’d need some clarification.

  • 16. June 19, 2009

    Wow, 5 strike outs already.

  • 17. June 19, 2009

Cliff Lee has thrown 5… I guess I need to clarify there too!

  • 18. June 19, 2009

Haha Rick. You succeeded in making me laugh there.

  • 19. June 19, 2009

Go figure…Rich Harden gets the first base hit off Lee today.

  • 20. June 19, 2009

7-1 Indians lead in the 5th.

Three runs so far off of Smith and Perez in the eighth. On the plus side, I guess that means we’ll see Wood — if we can get the last out of the inning without giving up a handful more.

…aaand as I post, GameChannel updates to show Herges taking care of Thierot. 7-6 going into the ninth. Wasn’t it 7-1 just a minute ago?

  • 23. June 19, 2009

    Jhhhhhhony with a catch.

  • 24. June 19, 2009

And then the Cubs tie it.

I love the Indians and always will but I tell you… at this point the bullpen is so bad this year it’s comical and hard not to laugh when this happens.

Here’s hoping they can somehow pull out a “W.”

  • Alex
    27. June 19, 2009

I am still at the game and wedge deserves to be fired over his mismanagement of the bullpen … Smith and Perez were out there way longer than they ever should have been

  • 28. June 19, 2009

    Alex is a dedicated reader/commenter.

  • 29. June 19, 2009

Can’t believe D. Lee didn’t catch that foul. Then Soriano. The Cubs are to catching what the Tribe are to relief pitching.

  • 30. June 19, 2009

Man, I was hoping the wind would have blown that one away from Fukodome. Poop.

Thanks denny but I needed to complain to someone other than the girl who claimed to be an indians fan but couldn’t name who was the starting sg for the cavs

    32. June 19, 2009

She’s claiming to be an Indians fan, at Wrigley, and has no apparent interest in sports? What are you doing watching the game, man?

  • 33. June 19, 2009

This is not looking good. Anyways – Alex how are you posting to the site? My phone only loads the WP mobile page that doesn’t allow for reading or posting comments. Can’t figure out how to change it. Stupid iphone.

  • 34. June 19, 2009

Denny, that’s not so much an iPhone problem as it is a failure in the design of the mobile site to have an override link somewhere. And, yeah, : (

another day, another interesting way to lose…

    43. June 20, 2009

I too was at the game, as I live less than I mile from Wrigley. Unfortunately, I have tickets for the game today as well. At least with Okha pitching, they’re not likely to ever have a lead to lose…

  • JM
    44. June 20, 2009

This team really is starting to be comical. I wake up every morning to see how they came up with a new way to lose. Then I read about this guy and that guy “recovering” from injuries. The Grinder always has good material too. Then I do the same thing every day. It is like a recurring nightmare.
