No Bye Week for Buckeyes

Written By:  Rick   |  Category:  Ohio State Buckeyes   |  Comments:   14

Ohio State plays 12 games this season, 8 against Big Ten opponents and 4 non-conference games. That is nothing new. But the Buckeyes will play those 12 games in 12 consecutive weeks.

Sept. 5 vs. NavyCarmen Ohio
Sept. 12 vs. USC
Sept. 19 at Toledo
Sept. 26 vs. Illinois
Oct. 3 at Indiana
Oct. 10 vs. Wisconsin
Oct. 17 at Purdue
Oct. 24 vs. Minnesota
Oct. 31 vs. New Mexico State
Nov. 7 at Penn State
Nov. 14 vs. Iowa
Nov. 21 at Michigan

The game ‘at’ Toledo will be played at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The opener against Navy will be on ESPN, and the USC game will be a primetime ABC game. Which games will give the young Buckeyes a challenge?

They play AT Toledo??? Wow . . .

Well, it’s in Browns Stadium. So nobody is really home, except I’m guessing it’ll be 70:30 Scarlet : Navy at least.

    Hardest games?

    1) @ Penn State. Not a night game, but could be a 3:30 kickoff which means whiteout conditions at the finish.

    2) USC. Home game helps, but how much of a tune-up will Navy be?

    3) Iowa. Again, home field helps, but we haven’t played Iowa in a while, and they’ve been on the brink of being good for a while. Ricky Stenzl is a solid QB.

Is this normal? Maybe i don’t pay enough attention but it seems that OSU has had a bye week every season.

Dangit. My wedding/wedding reception is Sept. 12 in the evening. Very very poor planning.

Time for a big screen at the reception

It’s the exception, but it has happened a couple times, most recently in ‘05 I believe.

@Rick – there was a bye week in 05. It was the week before the Penn State game, which the Bucks lost. I never liked bye weeks, as the Bucks always seem to lose those games, especially on the road. That was a loooong night.

Thank you Nicko…I was going to make that kind of joke in the post, but I figured somebody would make it in the comments pretty quick. I’m surprised it took this long.

No problem. I had Michigan on there too, but thought better of it.
