Indians to Honor Michael Jackson, America

indians-fireworksWhen the product on the field has trouble drawing in crowds, shift your focus to promotions!

The Indians will do just that this weekend with a back-to-back fireworks show.  Friday nights typically have fireworks following every game, and this week will be no different.  Except for the fact that the team will attempt to take you on a voyage to Neverland Ranch as they pay tribute to the late Michael Jackson with an “expanded 15-minute pyrotechnic display.”

Expect plenty of Thriller, Beat It and Billie Jean.  Perhaps a little Smooth Criminal for good measure.

With Friday’s show paying homage to the King of Pop, the Indians will follow up with a Saturday night show that is deemed an Independence Day Celebration.

Not the Will Smith/Bill Pullman flick from the 90’s, but the actual holiday that many will be celebrating for three days instead of just one.  Declaration of Independence ahoy!

Jacobs/Progressive Field fireworks are usually very good, complete with music and an actual chair instead of the infamous blanket on the ground technique.  I can’t promise that you’ll see an actual win with the purchase of a ticket, but at least you’ll get to see some colorful explosives on two straight nights.  Has to be worth something, right?  Getcha sparklers ready.

Hey, this is great. The Tribe is honoring a mentally ill, child-molesting drug abuser. Wow, that should pack ‘em in.

But I think I’ll wait for their tribute to O.J., Bernie Madoff, and Jimmy Dimora.

    @ 2-

Since your such a smart ass, why dont you google “Jordan Chandler,” the kid who said Michael did those things, who is now saying it’s not true and that his father made him say those things. And just out of curiosity, since when is it ok to make fun of a “mentally ill” person? Stay classy bud.

    @3

Oh, sorry. Guess I was mistaken. I guess Jacko wrote out that check for $22 million because he was trying to lower his tax bracket or something.

They should invest that fireworks money into research to determine what drugs Shapiro is on that keep him from firing Wedge.

Either that, or a private investigator to find out who Dolan/Shapire killed in Mexico, and what evidence Wedge is holding over their heads.

… with a special, in-game MJ impression by Jhonny Peralta, as they both wear one glove for no apparent reason.

@ #6 – Maybe Shappy would really like a fireworks show, what with his alleged being on drugs and whatnot.

it stands to reason that the clueless Indians would go and do something like this…

because when I think of America, and our Independence…I think Michael Jackson’s Thriller…

bleh. wait for Labor Day and our tribute to the people in Indonesia by increasing their pay to 45 cents a day with portions of ticket sales…

I think the Indians have gone to crap because of the whole seagull fiasco. We were not too far below-average when they hung out with us and watched games from the field. Because of one seagull that was a little slower than the rest we messed with karma and began scaring the cute little birds away. I say we stop with the fireworks and welcome them back to our field.

We could have gotten better with them around but now we’ve REALLY begun the tank process!

Long live the seagull; Shin-Soo Choo’s best friend!

.. or maybe this fireworks display is a huge government conspiracy and has nothing to do with Michael Jackson at all but is just the Indians way of scaring the birds to the other side of the world!

(This is what happens when you’re stuck at work the day before a holiday and there’s absolutely nothing to do… crazy thoughts.)

This should be a Michael Jackson joke thread….

Michael Jackson is confirmed dead at age 50. He died of food poisoning after eating a 12 year old weiner.

    How’s that for classy.

    #14—LOL

Everyone jumps on the bandwagon in this country. Sad.
Way to be original Tribe brass. But then, you gotta do what ya gotta do to try the bring in fans. The team certainly isn;t drawing them.
