WFNY Readers Have Spoken…

Delonte West, Daniel Gibson

…At least figuratively.

As you know, we’ve been running the “Re-sign or Release” feature here over the past few weeks.  Starting with the backcourt, the only two players that have garnered a majority of “Re-Sign” votes are Delonte West and Daniel Gibson.  Well, you guys are two-for-two.

Per Mary Schmitt Boyer:

The Cavaliers have made qualifying offers to Daniel Gibson for $972,581 and Delonte West for $2.76 million, meaning they will become restricted free agents on July 1, and the Cavs will have the right to match any offers they receive from other teams. The team has until June 30 to make a qualifying offer to Dwayne Jones.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Gibson will most certainly receive an offer greater than his qualifying offer.  I wouldn’t be surprised if West did as well, especially if some of the guard-hungry teams do not answer their needs in the draft.  No word yet on if either of these guys will plan to hold out a la Varejao/Pavlovic, but I would assume that all is a “go” for right now.

Safe assumption?

These two can’t really expect to make more or even be offered than the midlevel, right? I guess its hard to say what garbage agents feed their players, but the only way these guys won’t be Cavs next year is if they trade them which I hope is avoided
