Wait, the Indians Were On?

Indians 4, Giants 1 (box)

Between the rain delay - that forced that game to start about an hour late - and the whole NBA Draft thing, last night’s Tribe game was likely one of the least viewed in recent weeks.  And while I’m fully in the camp that missed nearly every pitch, a bit of history was made last night with Cliff Lee striking out 11 batters though his eight innings of one-run ball.

I’d be a bit unfair if I didn’t mention the fact that Joe Borowksi allowed zero men on base for his sixth save of the season.  The fact that I have to actually mention the fact that someone actually did their job is irritating enough, but I can’t always just point out the bad.  Though we are given plenty of material…

Okay, I can’t help it.

David Dellucci.  Designated hitter.  HITTER.  He went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.  He’s now batting .219.  Talk about an oxymoron.

There, that feels better.

6th save of the season, 79 games in? That’s depressing.

I can’t wait until next year when we start hitting the ball but our pitching staff can no longer get guys out.

I actually went to this game. Instead of going straight to “The Jake” though at 7pm, instead 1 stopped at Great Lakes Brewing Co. for dinner and a few beverages to wait out the rain. By the time we were done, it was 9pm and we entered the stadium while still in the first inning.

Being able to see Omar one last time and the standing ovations he got on his first and last at-bat were worth admission alone.

Seeing Cliff Lee and his historic 11 strike-outs were a great bonus for those who stuck around for this rain-delayed game.
