Phoenix Suns to buy out Ben Wallace, waive Sasha

Written By:  Denny   |  Category:  Cleveland Cavaliers   |  Comments:   21

In not-so-surprising news, the Phoenix Suns are reportedly working to negotiate a buyout with forward Ben Wallace to make room for some of their recent free agent signings.  In addition to saving salary by buying out the veteran Wallace, the Suns reportedly are moving to waive Sasha Pavlovic and his non-guaranteed contract.

Anybody see the Cavs re-signing Sasha to a small contract after he clears waivers, or does the Anthony Parker signing make this a moo point?

I agree with Eddie, if they’re going to bring back Sasha, it better not be at the expense of signing Barnes or someone else. Sasha is not worth more than the minimum.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sasha is out of the league this time next year. I’d hate to see him come back to Cleveland.

No chance. He’ll be making countless euros dunking over 6′2 small forwards next year.

Biff – Are you saying Sasha can’t count?

I would never suggest such a thing. In his time in Cleveland, Sasha proved to be quite a thoughtful and intelligent goon.

forget sasha, i say we bring ben back. he’s the “stretch” 4 we’ve been looking for.

As in “Having Ben Wallace on your NBA team is quite a stretch.”

It has taken the Cavs 2 years to get rid of Sasha. He was a Larry Hughes lite.

I’m more curious what the heck a “moo” point is. Like, instead of “not relevant or having any consequence”–i.e., moot–are you asking if signing Parker makes Pavs a cow instead?

@ DP Diesel – Friends reference. Joey thinks it’s a ‘moo point’.

So, Millsap signed an offer sheet with the Blazers. The 3-way trade that was purposed a couple days ago with CHI-UTAH-POR has to be dead too since the Blazers wouldn’t complete that knowing Utah would match the offer immediately after the trade to get boozer off the pay roll.

This is where I think Ferry might be able to get something done. Utah has less then 1 week to get rid of Boozer if they want Milsap. Maybe they get desperate enough to basically give Boozer away in a sign and trade (and buyout).

Seriously, how bad was the East in 2007? A team with Larry Hughes and Sasha Pavlovic starting in the backcourt went to the NBA Finals. I know LeBron’s great and all…but Hughes and Pavlovic…I’m surprised there were even any unbent rims left to use by the time those Finals rolled around.

    @ BillLegarm

you think sasha and lawrence were capable of drawing rim? that’s quite generous.

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Why don’t we just resign Sasha, Gooden and Wally for min-contracts. Won’t that fix all our problems?

I think Boozer would be a key acquisition. Sign/trade for JJ and Gibson… would that work?

Um, not unless one of those guys is secretly getting paid a lot more money than we’ve been led to believe I think.

Well we do have brid rights on Wallys contract too, so we could overpay for him and send it to Utah

If Sasha goes back to Europe to play, can we use next year’s first-rounder on him?

sign wally, package w/ JJ and Gibson for Boozer? I can dig it. I would want to explore other options first, though…
