August 11, 2009Clip Show: Keeping an Eye on the Tribe’s AAA Squad – 8/11/09
August 11, 2009As we mentioned yesterday, LeBron James is in the midst of a World Tour to promote the documentary More Than a Game.*
Aside from promoting the movie, however, LeBron is premiering a version of his new shoes – the Nike Air Max LeBron VII – at each of the hosting cities. Those that will be released today feature the colorway of St. Vincent-St. Mary and are titled “Family, Loyalty.” Prominently featuring the Irish green and gold, this specific colorway is set to be released at Chicago’s House of Hoops. Not only does it feature the flyware technology that we’ve touched on in the past, but it aslo features an image of LeBron James and his teammates on the outside of the right heel.
Could we read into these shoes being titled “Family, Loyalty” while featuring the colors of his Akron roots as a way to link LeBron to Cleveland longterm? Major media will not lead you to believe so, but they may be the first to point out the New York specific colorway that will be released before too long.
The basic colorways of the Air Max LeBron VII are set to retail at $160 and will hit stores on October 24. No word on if the “Family, Loyalty” colorway will be available in these parts. Per NikeLeBron.net, 123 pairs of these limited release shoes will be produced, so it does not appear so. It’s tough to be a sneakerhead in Cleveland given the lack of big market exclusives, but anything is possible with eBay and a boat load of money.

That “Loyalty” thing will come back to haunt LeBron if he leaves the Cavs next summer.
I thought the same thing, except the “loyalty” is likely to Akron. It speaks volumes that the one Ohio tour stop was Akron and not Cleveland. Compared to NY, Chicago, Shanghai…
/reading too much into things…
He’s coming to DC this week!!! LBJ DC NK!!!!!
Ok, I’m going to be quiet for a while now.
They look good!
The picture on the outside of him and his high school teammates looks kinda cheesy though imo
I think the instep looks much, much better than the outside of the shoes. Looks a lot like the hyperdunks, but I guess they had to do something to differentiate the shoe from the HDs.
I’m not a Cavs fan, but LeBron would be smart to stay in Cleveland. Nothing would say more about his prominence in the game than to take Cleveland to the promised land and win an NBA Title or two.
So Nike had to airbrush all of the adidas stuff off of the SVSM unis?
Lebron’s coming to DC? Know any details about this? I’ll be there in my Lebron jersey if possible!
To me if Lebron leaves cleveland, he can never be mentioned in the same category as Michael, or Magic, or Larry. None of these guys had to leave their teams to win and Lebron shouldn’t either. I mean look at Karl Malone, even though it was in the “twilight” of his career, he sold his soul for a ring and lost a lot of respect with a lot of people.
@ Jason – LeBron’s got a film tour dealio going on. They’ll be in DC Thursday/Friday this week. You can find the details here:
http://inside.nike.com/blogs/nikebasketball/2009/07/31/more-than-a-game-the-tour
It’ll be right by Metro Center, in the parking lot that used to be the Convention Center, right across from Cap City Brewery at H and 11th.
Denny that’s awesome–and I have Friday off! Do you know what time everything starts, or should I just camp out early?
What’s Good Rich Paul, I’m in D.C. Hit me up

There’s a video of this sneaker on a blog-www.galleyboy.net…
the video shows someone holding up the shoe at different angles-looks pretty cool.
