“Simply put, Anderson Varejao wants a championship. And the arrival of Shaquille O’Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers will not affect the way the young Brazilian power forward sees his role next season with the team. “I think it’s very important for us,” Varejao said about the signing of O’Neal. “Every team he’s been on has won championships or has been in a good position to do so. Varejao, whose squad beat Venezuela 87-67 on Thursday, knows that his playing time will be decided by coach Mike Brown and that the most important thing in his mind is having another shot at winning his first NBA ring.” [Alfredo Berrios/TrueHoop]

I remain a Giant, you Jeremy Shockey: “The Buckeyes defensive line is not only the strength of the 2009 Silver Bullets, but it is the best defensive line unit in the conference and one of the tops in the entire country. When looking at the New York Giants and their recent defensive line success, I cannot help but think about the similarities between those teams and the potential of Jim Heacock’s unit this year.” [Alex/Eleven Warriors]

The first crack at the 2009 NCAA BlogPoll is out. For being so “overrated,” Ohio State sure didn’t move to far from the AP spot. [CBSSports] [MGoBlog]

really? the Bucks D-Line is good yes, but the same disruptive qualities as the Giants? really? if so, thats fantastic…I mean, I knew that had depth and some good anchors…but wow…i hadnt heard that comparison just yet…
In an unrelated note, Duron Carter can catch balls thrown to him with his helmet.
Andy V. can’t be the only Cav who is motivated by Shaq’s presence and heritage. As I said yesterday, Shaq’s value in helping the Cavs push forward goes beyond his 37 years of age and points per game. Thanks again Phoenix………..continue on with your bashing.
Nice touch with the Wale lyric Scott
Yea I forgot to add – DC Dhillin, PG Chillin.
Everyone keeps raving about OSU’s D-line but I need to see it on a consistent basis. While Gibson, Williams and Heyward have shown the ability to get to the QB regularly, our tackles in Worthington, Denlinger and Larimore haven’t gotten push up the middle on a consistent basis. That being said, all three tackles gained playing time early in their career and should be ready as seniors to make a splash. We shall see.
