Victor Martinez Heads Back to Cleveland

Just not in the way that any of us would prefer…
Despite the favorable match-up, some of you may have noticed that the Red Sox were without catcher Victor Martinez last night as they played the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Turns out that while nursing an potentially injured leg (thanks to Gabe Gross), something came up back home that needed V-Mart’s attention.
“He got whacked in the leg the other day, and I think we were kind of iffy on if he was going to play or not,’’ Francona said. “Then something personal with the family came up that’s very important in Cleveland. So we gave him our blessing to go back there for the next couple days.’’
There is not a firm date for Martinez’s return.
Obviously, we wish him the best even though he is no longer with the Tribe. I enjoy the fact that the Red Sox are now undermanned, but you never want it to be at the expense of one’s family. If anything, it’s good to see that The Stick still considers Cleveland “home.”

Hey that’s a great PS job on that picture!
I will never forgive the Indians for this loss!!!!!!! I love Victor. A great player that actually wanted to stay in Cleveland. I am still crying whenever I think of it and his child asking him if they were still Indians………..CURSES TO BIG NOSE and the Dolan geek.
