September 22, 2009While We’re Waiting… Life Without Delonte, Big Ten Quarterbacks, and a Short Browns Quiz
September 23, 2009While I’m not sure of whom the collecting party is (I assume it is the NFL – given their stickler-type M.O. regarding uniforms), it appears that Browns defensive back Eric Wright has been fined $5,000 for his pants not covering his knees.
If we take a quick look at pictures from this past weekend’s game, it seems that Wright wasn’t the only one whose pants (the ever popular brown version, by the way) were shorter than normal. No word on if Wright was the only player fined, but this may be a little more fuel to the fire that is the alleged “water bottle” fine from the same weekend.
If anything, this could mean the end of the brown pants. Please.
(Update: Tweets has since been deleted, along with a few others discussing the fine. This could be interesting)

Abe Elam was the recipient of the $1701 (MAX under the CBA) fine for checking out of a hotel and not settling on his $2.95 bottle of water.

Nothing more needs to be said.
Scott-as Craig said on an earlier post, the Brown pants are here to stay so just resign yourself to enjoying them. Mangini already announced they would be the road pants for the entire season-do you think he’s likely to change based on what the “fans” think?
Has nothing to do with the fans, Isis. If his team is getting fined by the NFL because of their length, either they need new ones, or they have to get rid of them.
Did you even read the post??
OK Scott………I stand corrected on that count. But…….same point, do you really think Mangini would move from the Turd pants after making such a pronouncement?
It looks like every member of the team’s pants are too short. Browns wearing short shorts… I know they played like girls but c’mon, this is getting ridiculous. Put some Dickies on these boys and lets do some real dirty work.
Actually… if you scroll through that image reel you can see a ton of Broncos pants up above their knees too. Gaffney, Moreno, Whoever #59 is. Even Orton’s knee is only covered by his sock. This smells of shamockery…..
I don’t think it’s fair to judge the pants after one game. You need to give them time to figure out how they work with the team and see how they fit in the grander scheme.
Tron-who the heck ever would want to sign on next year to play with the Browns if this nonsense is all true? Maybe Mangini will speak with his brother in law Shapiro and suggest the Indians wear the old high leg stirrups? At what point and how long will it take for even the hardest barking painted Browns fans going to take issue with what’s goin on?
@#8Swig-dude, that’s an awesome post!
No Swig–the pants are an unmitigated bust! They were brought in here way too early and should be contributing–they were supposed to have been “the most NFL-ready” pants in the whole warehouse!! This is all the fault of that slovenly no-goodnik Manweenus and absentee Slo Lerner!!! LOUD NOISES!!!!!!!!

The turd pants are a special form of evil that transcends the natural laws of physics. The puke-osity of the turd pants distorts the space-time continuum, interferes with the movement of tectonic plates, skews the earth’s magnetic field, and will ultimately destroy the planet.
Book it.
“I know what you wrote, Scott, but do you really think Mangini would save your grandmother from a burning building?”
It grows older by the minute.
Martin Rucker waived; TE Greg Estandia claimed from Jacksonville… yet another Savage trade up draft pick gone.
BTW, don’t you love the way that the millionaires we cater to talk about their chump change?
“5 stacks”?
I don’t know why, but I was a little offended by that.
MR C, No kiddin-5 Stacks would really help me out right about now.
MAN, those brown pants are ugly. What has happened to my beloved team?
I need to start a support group ’cause I truly enjoy the all brown slacks. Is there anyone else out there? Or am I in a support group of one? (I’m talking aesthetically here, I realized we don’t play too well in them. And, apparently, we get fined for wearing them.)
He also deleted all the tweets AFTER he called out the @NFL
I wish I could fine Brian Daboll 5stacks every sunday his offense fails to reach the endzone. And I’d fine Mangini 10stacks for letting it happen.
Also I like the brown pants. There, I said it.
I’m with you Charlie. I like the brown pants. I think it’d be even better if they wore them with the orange jersey’s from a couple years back. take it back to ’81 son!
Agree with #19 & #20. I actually LIKE the brown pants. And I like the orange jerseys.
No, I’m not color blind…I swear!
I say they go with the brown pants and brown jerseys to look like a bunch of turds.
I think the turd pants are apt apparel for this team. Remember what Shakespeare said, “The apparel oft proclaims the man.”
[…] and missed relatively zero time away from the team. One would assume that he would take countless uniform infraction fines before having to go through anything of this magnitude […]
