Jam With LeBron (and apparently Jay-Z)

image002One of the coolest things about iTunes is the fact that anybody can make a playlist and put it up to share with their friends.

What’s even cooler is when a celebrity or athlete (or someone who wants to be both, Braylon) puts up a playlist we get to pretend like 1) we know them a little better and 2) they put the playlist up specifically for us, their good friend.

With that said, LeBron James now has a playlist up on iTunes (iTunes link), complete with brief explanations of each song that he selected.  Check them out after el yump-o…

1Dirty Diana” – I was born in ’84, so between the time when I was a kid until the ’90s, Mike was just on fire (even though he was great after that).  I listened to a lot of MJ.  I’m a big fan of his music.

2 “Juicy”- This song is all about working hard to get what you want; it has always motivated me.

3 Hate Me Now – Dru and I used to listen to this song in the locker room before games to pump us up. It brings back great memories.

4 I Did It My Way – You already know I’m a huge fan of Jay-Z. This was the song I played a lot as a senior in high school.

5 My Way - Gotta have some Usher on the list – this is my song for all the ladies!

6 The Way I Am – This song will always remind me of Romeo. With him, what you see is what you get. If I had to pick a song for him, this would definitely be it.

7 Excuse Me Miss – Also a Jay Record, off the Blueprint 2 album. The entire album got major rotation that year.

8 Against All Odds - I love this song, and if I had to pick one song for Dru this would be it. Even as a little guy he rose up against all odds to become a phenomenal basketball player.

9 Encore – I had to throw one more Jay-Z song in here to top it off. Jay became a mentor, role model, and big brother to me. I will alway support whatever he does throughout his career, and he will do the same for me.

10 Thriller - Any good playlist begins and ends with Michael Jackson.

So there’s his list.  Rev up your conspiracy LBJ to Brooklyn talk now kids, because Jay-Z has three spots on the list. I guess if you want any consolation, he doesn’t have any Russian rave music on his list (yet). I can safely say that I know three out of 10 of these songs.  I’m a bit surprised that he didn’t have “Ridin’ With The King” by B.B. King and Eric Clapton on there, just to mix it up with his nickname.

And no “Time After Time”!? C’mon, man.

I was expecting some Barry Manilow. He says he’s a big fan of Barry’s music.

I wonder if any rumors will come about from Michael Jackson being on the list twice, maybe that means he’s going to L.A. and will buy Neverland Ranch.

I’d be afraid if he was a huge fan of Bjork. Not because he would then obviously be traded to some Norse basketball team, but because he would like Bjork.

I may be late to the game here, but staff at NoLogoNeeded.com had a man date this week to go see More Than A Game.

I’m still fired up. It was AWESOME.

Regardless of the Jay-Z tunes in his playlist, anyone who saw that documentary comes away with the strong belief there is no way he’s going to NYC.

Will the next post include another cheap shot at Braylon? Sheesh. Will each game include a Braylon catch/yardage tracker along with bashing and excuse shots?

  • 8. October 15, 2009

    Answer: no.

I like to think Braylon reads Browns blogs and everytime someone takes a shot at him does this…

Will the next Isis Brown’s post be cut and paste from his previous posts? Its fun to bash Braylon right now (especially with nothing good to say about the team). Being someone who likes to stick on one point for many months (Dolen is cashing out!), Isis, I thought you would embrace this story.

Yeah there may be 3 Jay Z songs on here, but its the Jay Z song that isnt on here that excites me. His new song Empire State is not on the list, which tells me he definetely is not going to New York!
