Coors Light Romeo Crennel Commercials Save Randy Lerner Almost $20,000

Much has been made about the names that are currently among those receiving severance packages from Randy Lerner and the Browns.  Recently fired coaching staff and general managers can create quite a list.

Obviously, one of those individuals is former coach Romeo Crennel – a face that has been seen quite often in Coors Light commercial spots.  But thanks to those spots featuring Crennel in the infamous fake press conference setting, Lerner himself is free of the approximately $20,000 that Crennel made in compensation from Molson Coors Brewing Company.

Per the Plain Dealer’sTony Grossi, this is a move that most NFL clubs would do in the same instance.  No word on if Lerner is advocating Coors make $4 million worth of more Romeo Crennel commercials, as the former head coach is set to make just that through 2011 following his extension signed in 2008.

This is our best financial move of the year. How sad is that?

So in other words, 0.5% of what he still owes Romeo. I’m sure his accountants are doing back flips over this.

…or about 500K shy of what he’s paying Josh Cribbs…

Actually it’s great PR for Romeo, or shall I say FREE PR for Romeo. He loses nothing in the exchange and gets his beefy puss on prime-time. And as horrific as the big boy was and is, juxtapositioned against you know who…….one almost longs for the days of Romeo and Maurice.

I miss Romeo. How sad is that. I still won’t be shocked to see him get a job as a coordinator or assistant again somewhere, given his reputation as a well-liked guy throughout the league, unlike someone we all know.

I said it a few weeks ago with the whole Mangini minus Kokinis “I understand the question and I appreciate it, but I can’t answer it” presser, but that is a coors light commercial begging to be made. Even better is the fact that next year we’ll be raking in 40k worth of fired coach coors commercials…..go brownies

@2: Not quite. Pretty sure that’s $4m per year through 2011. Error on Scott’s part, unless Romeo signed an extension for $1.3m/yr.
