At least the Browns are saying the right things going into the game against the Chargers today. “It’s our job to find a way out of this,” said defensive end Robaire Smith. “We don’t have a choice. This is our job. We’re professionals and it’s time for the younger guys to step up. As team leader, you just got to keep guys motivated and lead by example. Fortunately, we’ve got a lot of guys on this team like me, David Bowens, Joe Thomas and a lot of others who are still going out and playing hard.” [MSB, Plain Dealer]

Former Buckeye Greg Oden went down last night with a patella fracture and is likely done for the duration of the season. Best wishes to him in his recovery. Check out Blazers’ Edge for more deets.

“Well, as it turns out (and I hate to be the bearer of bad news here), high schoolers don’t really think you’re all that cool once you graduate, no matter how many yards you may of rushed for your junior year or how many homers you hit your senior year (a lesson I learned the hard way).  Once you walk across the stage to get your diploma on graduation day, you are essentially crossing a coolness threshold at your high school in which there’s no turning back.  In the same way, the four minute mark is the coolness threshold for getting a trillion.” [Titus, Club Tril]

Just what we need – LeBron trying to gun for 50 points. “I don’t want to see the Brandon Jennings everybody has been talking about,” James said. “As a defensive team, we’re going to take some pride in guarding him… If he decides he wants to go for 50, I’ll be able to match him.” [Brian Windhorst, PD]

Buckeyes’ all-world PG Evan “The Villain” Turner is out eight weeks with an injury to his back region. [Buckeyes]

“The point isn’t that Cincinnati and TCU and Boise State are better than Texas. The point is that it’s not clear that Texas is better than any of those teams, so the Longhorns’ spot at No. 2 shouldn’t be assumed without some real analysis by the 114 Harris voters and 59 coaches.” [Doug Lesmerises, PD]

The Browns video brought a tear to the eye. That bomb to Slaughter was classic Kosar — ugly, messed up, awkward, and dead perfect. Thanks for the memory.

I was utterly unimpressed with Texas last night. Despite playing in a clearly lesser conference, I think TCU is the second best team in the country right now. The Big 12 is in a down year, and Texas has shown they can be shut down both offensively and defensively. All of that said, if the same Alabama team that showed up last night in Atlanta shows up in Pasadena, this debate is academic as the Tide will roll.

Great video. The graininess and chopiness really illustrates just HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN SINCE WE WERE GOOD!!! I still used milk tokens and attended a daily recess for crying out loud!

Great video. Bernie running around after that game reminds me of Jimmy V looking wookin pa nub on the court. Awesome.
