No Cowher in Carolina? “Current speculation is that some of the large bags of gold hand-delivered to Cowher’s home daily by Fox Sports executives might come available this off-season, as the Steelers coach looks to return to the sidelines. Furthermore, that speculation has Cowher landing in Carolina to coach the Panthers for the aforementioned real-estate reasons – namely, that’s somewhat close to where Cowher lives now.
For a lot of folks, that’s enough. Cowher lives in Carolina, he’s going to coach the Panthers. Game, set, match. Since I don’t think a single real estate-based rumor has proven out in the ten years the OBR has been around, you’ll pardon our skepticism about this line of analysis.” [The OBR]

Let…him…dance! “Not taking basketball seriously is bad. However, does anyone think that James doesn’t take the game seriously? If anything, we too often get on players like Kobe and Tim Duncan for being too stone-faced in crunch time. LeBron James has proven himself capable of closing out big games with almost chilling dominance, uplifting teammates, and just generally excelling at all you could ask of a superstar. Dancing may annoy Joakim Noah, but he can decide who dances and who doesn’t (or, knowing Noah, maybe dance a little himself) when he accomplishes what James has.” [Bethlehem Shoals/The Baseline]

A most excellent feature on Cleveland State’s Norris Cole [Vince Grzegorek/’64 and Counting]

So far, so good… “At least for now, it would seem that the Cavs are on the right path. They’ve had Delonte with the team for over three weeks straight now . . . since he missed the team flight to Florida last month. The team is assessing him and his day-to-day emotional health internally. When there’s a blip on the “Delonte Is Off” radar, Mike Brown will either hold him out of the game . . . or be quick to yank him if he appears sluggish, unfocused or agitated on the court.” [The Wine and Goldrush]

Dear Shaq,
You’re too old and or slow.
Thanks,
Us
His 16 pts, 4 blocks and 6 boards disagree. It was a trap game, plain and simple. They didn’t show up and Memphis did. The entire starting lineup’s +/- was negative except for Lebron.
agreed chris… @jk: i didn’t really see shaq being “too old or slow” except on the grizzlies last possession in ot when he got burned on defense. trap game, all the way… you’ll have those.
Shaq should have had a better stat line than that. When Gasol had 4 fouls we didn’t feed him…..but in the 3rd quarter, when he was triple covered, we were trying to force it in. That resulted in multiple turnovers. Mike Brown is shaving years off of my life with his continued lapses. JJ is not exactly turning heads either. Where was he when Shaq had Conley at the end?
Memphis played their butts off last night so give them some credit. The starting 5 for them are legit.
Shaq shouldn’t have been in there on that last defensive play. I would’ve rather had an ice cold Darnell Jackson in there than Shaq. Sloppy play by the Cavs didn’t help either.
It’s not Shaq’s fault MB wasn’t smart enough to take him out for the last possession, allowing Memphis to exploit his biggest weakness…
Judging by the fact that there was no mention of Shaq anywhere in this post, I assume that you guys really wanted to talk Cavs first thing in the morning, eh?
if the Browns win tomorrow night, Cowher might be coaching for the Steelers again next season!
“[LeBron’s dancing] may annoy Joakim Noah, but he can decide who dances and who doesn’t when he accomplishes what James has.”
Which is…getting swept in the Finals? Seriously, what has James accomplished, other then becoming the benefactor of the biggest media hype machine in sports history (I dare you to find another figure who gets as much one-sided, positive coverage, especially considering the fact that he hasn’t won anything yet.) It’s laughable how the media fawns over this contrived [edited], while refusing to analyze him critically (which is, you know, their JOB.)
CAROLINA NEEDS COACH COWHER BADLY… CAROLINA HAS THE BEST RECIEVER IN THE NFLIN STEVE SMITH AND THEY’RE NOT USING HIM LIKE THE SHOULD BE. JAKE DELHOLME MUST GO… SORRY. WHAT; DOESNT HE HAVE LIKE 137 INTERCEPTIONS SO FAR THIS SEASON? HE MUST GO.. SORRY. COACH COWHER… PLEASE HELP THE PANTHERS!
