12 Days of a Cleveland Christmas: Day 11

Written By:  Rick   |  Category:  12 days of Christmas   |  Comments:   102

ornament1 copyCongratulations to Bridgecrosser who had his entry randomly selected from Friday’s contest. He’ll be enjoying (hopefully) the Cavs game against the Raptors on January 19th.

The contest is winding down. Only two more prize packages left.

Today the winner will receive a pair of tickets to see the Tribe take on Cliff Lee’s new team, the Seattle Mariners on Saturday August 14th. (Who knows, maybe you’ll get to see Cliff baffle OUR hitters!) It’s a giveaway day, so there will be some sort of bobble head or other such prize to take home. In addition, you’ll be getting a copy of The Making of an MVP by Terry Pluto and Brian Windhorst. Worth playing for? Of course it is.

Once again, here’s the skinny…

That’s right WFNY loyal readers- the December giveaway is back! Each weekday from now until Tuesday the 22nd we will be giving away a great Cleveland sports prize pack. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on the daily prize post answering the question of the day. It’s that simple. Look for the posts at noon.

- You may only enter once each day. You are free to comment on each other’s answers, however.

- The winner will be chosen at random from the qualifying entries. Winners will be notified the following day by email (make sure the email address you registered to comment with is a real one!) You must be at least 18 years old to win, and only one winner per household during this giveaway please.

-Entries must be made before Midnight EST to qualify.

Last year I made everyone give their answer in exactly 64 words, (last Cleveland title) but this year I’m going to be a bit more lenient. As long as you actually answer the question, it doesn’t matter how many words you use.

Today’s prize- Two tickets to see the Tribe vs the Mariners + The Making of an MVP.

Today’s question- If you could be the MVP for a Cleveland sports team which one would it be and why?

Good luck!

Not the Browns…don’t want to steal Cribbs’ thunder. Cavs for sure. Favorite professional team in Cleveland for me.

  • Anthony
    2. December 21, 2009

Browns, no doubt. Most beloved franchise in the city. A Browns MVP is never forgotten.

  • JNeids
    3. December 21, 2009

Well it definately wouldn’t be the Tribe ’cause that would just guarantee me getting traded outta town next year…

I guess I would have to be the Cavs. Always been more of a bballer than a football player. And who doesn’t need more short, white guys winning MVP’s in that league…

    4. December 21, 2009

It would have to be the Indians. While my obsession with Cleveland sports runs deep, the Indians are my favorite. Especially, since now they have the longest drought since MVP’s of all the Cleveland teams.

    Browns. No question.

  • jack
    8. December 21, 2009

Browns, just because if you take home an NFL MVP award, it basically means your the best player on the best team, meaning we’d at least made the playoffs! Playoffs? Playoffs?

  • Tim
    9. December 21, 2009

Indians- baseball is my sport and being under-appreciated compared to a Browns MVP would fit in with what I’m used to.

  • Merrick
    10. December 21, 2009

The Browns. The fans would be all over me. Ha, just kidding, we just badly need it.

  • Dave
    11. December 21, 2009

the browns…they need more help than the cavs and indians do

  • phil m
    12. December 21, 2009

Would that it were the Browns, so that I could give a speech honoring Jim Brown and Marion Motley, among other superstars of Browns’ lore whose misfortune was simply to have dominated before the christening of the “Superbowl.”

  • 13. December 21, 2009

Torn between the Cavs (basketball was my sport back in the day) or the heart and soul of Cleveland sports- the Browns. Cleveland is a football town, after all.

  • bigredwitness
    14. December 21, 2009

Browns without a doubt, I can’t even imagine the love I’d get showered with

  • bobby
    15. December 21, 2009

Browns. This is my most beloved team in Cleveland and if I could play annd help them turn even into a respectable team, I’d jump right on that.

  • Lloyd Braun
    16. December 21, 2009

    Indians.

I will always like the Browns, but I like the Indians and Cavs more. I still have not gotten over (and never will) Modell moving the original Browns. New Browns have just never felt the same.

Since the Cavs already have an MVP, my choice would be the Tribe.

  • Justin
    17. December 21, 2009

Indians… Lebron is the Cavs’ MVP, Browns have J-Cribbs. Sizemore can’t even be his girlfriend, errr ex-girlfriend’s MVP (very photogenic) I would have the best shot with the Tribe amongst all of our newly touted prospects.

  • 18. December 21, 2009

    Browns. No explanation needed IMHO.

  • Swig
    19. December 21, 2009

Cavs, I’ve always liked the Cavs best. In basketball you can have a more direct impact on the game than football (where you HAVE to rely on everyone around you also doing a great job).

I would want to do it the way LeBron is, making the players around me better. Except I wouldn’t whine as much after every foul.

  • Matt#2
    20. December 21, 2009

Cavs. An MVP, without much question, can dunk. Thus, If I were MVP for the Cavs, then I could dunk, which I can’t do. I can do pretty much everything in the other sports that I have any interest in doing.

  • Colleen
    21. December 21, 2009

Indians. They dont’ have a Josh Cribbs or Lebron James. It would be amazing.

  • cweb25
    22. December 21, 2009

Browns. This is a football town. I could probably get a statue.

  • TBrown
    23. December 21, 2009

I’d say the Cavs, no question. For one, I could play indoors during the winter (what? like you guys don’t think about these things. Nobody likes being cold). For another, I’d just be wearing out my knees and not my head (concussions are scary). And most importantly, maybe I could get a spot on LeBron’s billboard? Like, sending him the pass as he rises up to dunk it?

Oh, also basketball players get guaranteed contracts, which is a must.

(also, I can see the irony here; my avatar is Otto Graham and I’d pick the Cavs over the Browns)

  • 24. December 21, 2009

I’ll say Indians, to help them break the 2nd longest MLB World Series drought. But yeah like JNeids said, i’d probably be traded the next season.

  • creative
    25. December 21, 2009

lets see within the last 10 years

    cavs=lebron mvp

    tribe=2 cy young

    browns= nothing

ill take the browns, id finally be able to rule cleveland with an iron fist

  • Erin
    26. December 21, 2009

The Browns…we are in desperate need of a MVP to help get us out of the rut we are currently in. The Cavs already have Lebron. We now need more positive attention directed towards one of the other Cleveland teams.

  • Ryan
    27. December 21, 2009

    Browns. Best fans in sports.

  • creative
    28. December 21, 2009

also could be argued for the tribe

id make the most money (baseball trumps all in terms of $) and i’d have to do the least (swing a bat 400+ times? sit in the OF for a while? sign me up!)

  • J
    29. December 21, 2009

The Cleveland browns. They have the best fans around!!!

  • Rich
    30. December 21, 2009

Indians – it’s been too long since the last one!

  • archangel
    31. December 21, 2009

I’d be a 6-10 power forward for the Cavs with a penchant for power dunks and rebounding, and who could also shoot the mid-range jumper. I’d average about 26 ppg and 12 rpg, with about 2 bpg. Wishful thinking, of course, that’s the point. But in reality, I’m 5-11 and am nowhere close to being able to dunk.

  • Jay
    32. December 21, 2009

I’d have to go with the Browns. Basketball was my main sport growing up, but I’ll always love my Browns first. Plus if I was MVP, I may have a little persuasion to Keep Mangini here in 2010. (Yeah, I said it. I want him here another year. So does Jim Brown. Yeah. That Jim Brown.)

  • 33. December 21, 2009

Definitely MVP of the Lake Erie Monsters or Lake County Captains. I’m a man of humble beginnings.

  • Grosen
    34. December 21, 2009

Tribe…because maybe then my wife will take down her shrine to Grady….

tribe – I might actually have a chance to really do this

Cavs, because if I’m better than Lebron I’m rolling in the dough.

  • mendy
    37. December 21, 2009

brownies all the way… BESIDES MY UNBELIEVABLE ATHLETIC ABILITIES, i think that an mvp in football goes much further in cleveland than that of any other sport. (and i’m selfish that way)

  • Joe H
    38. December 21, 2009

It would have to be the Indians for me…. I am a die hard fan of all Cleveland sports but the Tribe is still number one

  • JDaz
    39. December 21, 2009

Cavs. If I was the MVP it’d mean I was more awesome than Lebron.

  • Capt. Poppy
    40. December 21, 2009

Browns. I would be remembered by the best fans in the world.

  • BP
    41. December 21, 2009

It would have to be the Browns. If a Brownie were to win the MVP that means we would have what some teams call a “franchise” quarterback.

  • brwnsgrl
    42. December 21, 2009

Indians…because baseball is a sport that I can actually play.

  • mitchum man

Definately the browns. They just matter more.

  • Brian
    44. December 21, 2009

Browns. Leading the Browns back to NFL greatness and being the reason why, that would be great!

  • JK
    45. December 21, 2009

Browns only reason being it’s the city’s favorite team and if youre the MVP you’re the automatic hero.

  • JM
    46. December 21, 2009

Browns because the fans live and die over the Browns in this townn.

  • Chris Durham
    47. December 21, 2009

Has to be the Browns. They own this town no matter how good or bad they are. Football is king in Cleveland and the MVP wears the crown!!

  • 48. December 21, 2009

The Indians are my favorite team but I’d have to pick the Browns if the MVP trophy also brought a super bowl victory.

  • JJ From AK
    49. December 21, 2009

Browns, just to bring the team back to glory. But i wouldn’t wanna do it in a Manning or Favre mold. More like a Ray Lewis type. A dominating Middle Linebacker that would strike fear into every opposing team. My MVP moment?? A pick six on Big Ben where i truck him in front of the goal line to clinch the AFC North.

  • blue_monk
    50. December 21, 2009

Toss-up between Cavs and Browns. Gotta go with the Browns, even if I was a complete dou**e people would still love me

  • TampaBrett

The Browns! MVP QB! Only because I don’t think it’s ever happened before…

Browns for sure. Season and Super Bowl MVP!

  • Nate 8146

Tribe! Baseball is my true sports love.

  • LakeErieMonstar

I’d be MVP for the Browns, because I think that would probably be the award an out of shape lawyer could probably most easily attain.

  • Chris
    57. December 21, 2009

The Browns, no question about it.

  • Scooter
    58. December 21, 2009

the Browns…for obvious reasons…and because they are the most important sports team to me…but getting back to those obvious reasons…we need a playmaker BAD!!!

  • J-Dub
    59. December 21, 2009

Browns, I love the tribe and cavs but the Browns have the city’s heart

  • Eli
    60. December 21, 2009

Cavs, cause I’m a 6’4″ guy with a smooth jump shot. Not quite a stretch forward, but if I can start hitting them off the dribble, we’re championship material!

  • scharfna
    61. December 21, 2009

    Browns no doubt.

  • Lauren
    62. December 21, 2009

I’ll go with the Browns on this one.

  • Danny
    63. December 21, 2009

The Browns. This is a football city. Always has been and always will be

  • Connor
    64. December 21, 2009

Born in 1980 when Sipe won the MVP. Have to go with the Browns!

  • OSUSzulc
    65. December 21, 2009

The Cleveland Browns. I’m assuming if I’m MVP we also have a shot at the Super Bowl, the most important thing.

  • Phil Stanoch
    66. December 21, 2009

Browns! Cleveland will always be a football city first!

  • Rich
    67. December 21, 2009

Browns….although if I had my choice of playing a pro sport it would be in the NBA, Cleveland is a football town.

  • sleepless in cincinnati

Cleveland Browns MVP. I love cleveland sports but nothing compares to the browns.

  • Fern
    69. December 21, 2009

    Lake County Captains

I wouldn’t want to be traded away by the Tribe, I wouldn’t want to make Lebron jealous, and Eric Mangini would make me practice me too hard

  • CLESportsFan
    70. December 21, 2009

BROWNS ! Hands down! I love all our teams, but to be a Browns MVP would be the most memorable accomplishment and you’d be part of Cleveland history… probably even get a statue on Public Square!

  • Chad
    71. December 21, 2009

    Browns, no doubt.

  • 72. December 21, 2009

mlb-because i love the indians the best(but, there’s nothing like a browns game on sunday 1:00)

  • Greg
    73. December 21, 2009

Indians. No good reason. I’ve just always been a baseball guy.

  • lstavole13
    74. December 21, 2009

The Browns. There is nothing like winning the Super Bowl. Even if the Cavs or Indians manage to win a championship, this city will not be satisfied until the Browns win. So, I’d say not just MVP, but Super Bowl MVP of the Browns.

  • T-roy
    75. December 21, 2009

The Browns for sure, Football and Ohio go hand in hand. Also an MVP in Cleveland pretty much means I would be worshipped the rest of my life in Cleveland. Just look at how we reveer Kosar and Brown.

  • Painesville
    76. December 21, 2009

Cavs – I always wanted to possess super skills on the hard-court.

  • Pross89
    77. December 21, 2009

The Browns because they are the most loved franchise in the city.

  • Kunal
    78. December 21, 2009

I would definitely go with the Browns because like people said before me, its the most loved franchise in the city despite it being the absolute worst

  • brad galvan
    79. December 21, 2009

id love to be the browns mvp running back, id demand that all the run plays go left, though.

  • nullster
    80. December 21, 2009

I would absolutely want to be the MVP for the Browns … look at how much love Josh Cribbs gets even though he’s not considered the savior like LeBron

    #MerryCribbsmastoall #paytheman

  • Tbonez
    81. December 21, 2009

I would be the MVP of the Cavs. If you are better than Lebron on the same team, that would have to equal a title, right?

  • Feel
    82. December 21, 2009

I’d be SuperBowl MVP for the Brownies! Why not? Ohio needs to be known for football once again. Then I’d switch to the NBA and become the Finals MVP beside LeBron as the Cavs go for their 4-peat. Then, when I decide to settle down, I’d be the closer for the Tribe and pitch the final inning in Game 7 — redemption all the way…

  • jamie taylor
    83. December 21, 2009

Browns, and its not even close. If you think its close, you haven’t lived here very long.

  • erickups
    84. December 21, 2009

    Has to be the Browns.

  • 85. December 21, 2009

The Lake Erie Monsters, then I would be on my way to the show in Colorado with all the former Monster coaches & players.

  • Josh
    86. December 21, 2009

THe Browns for sure. They are the most beloved team in this city, and I think they deserve success the most. An MVP player usually says your team is pretty good too, maybe I’d be that MVP that brings home the Lombardi Trophy too.

  • Dan
    87. December 21, 2009

Indians, they need an MVP worse than anyone.

  • Thomas
    88. December 21, 2009

The Browns, easily. Who wouldn’t want to bring glory back to the Brownies?

  • SLM
    89. December 21, 2009

Huge baseball fan. Give me an MVP in baseball

  • cmb162
    90. December 21, 2009

The Browns, they need an MVP the most

  • Bridgecrosser
    91. December 21, 2009

I’d be the MVP of my own Pro Walleye Fishing team. I’d be pulling trophy walleye with my Confusion and Metallic Superman spoons. SCOREBOARD!

  • 92. December 21, 2009

As annoyed as I am with the Indians, I’d still have to pick them. Baseball and the Tribe are without a doubt my first love.

  • Chris M
    93. December 21, 2009

I have to go with the Cavs. Between Lebron and I, that’d be 2 MVPs on the same team in back to back years. Not even the Lakers could stop us!

  • Moose
    94. December 21, 2009

Indians- I’ve been a tribe fan ever since I was in little league. So definitely would want to be MVP for my favorite team.

  • CapGG
    95. December 21, 2009

That’s easy. The Browns. If you want to rule the city of Cleveland, be the Browns best player.

If Braylon played better, lead the team to a Super Bowl, he would have had carte blanche to beat up all of LeBron’s friend. King or no, Browns still rule the kingdom…

  • REEPJP
    96. December 21, 2009

Browns, just because of the joy it would bring to my dad and all his buddies….not that being an MVP in any of the other leagues wouldn’t make them (or me) pretty proud.

  • Brick
    97. December 21, 2009

The Tribe- my favorite sport, and the Indians were my first true love, at the age of 5.

  • christiang
    98. December 21, 2009

Since Lebron won’t be taken ‘serious’ unless he has a ring – I’d win it for the Cavs. With a ring, he is probably on his way to becoming one of the greatest basketball players ever. From Ohio, played in Ohio. What a great story.

  • S-Dub
    99. December 21, 2009

CAVS! Come on that’s easy, then I’d be better than LBJ on the same team as him! And win a ring.

  • 5haun
    100. December 21, 2009

I’d pick the cavs. Mainly just to be on that team. It looks like they actually have fun and get along. What other Cleveland team can say that?

  • DMain
    101. December 21, 2009

Browns. Definitely the city’s most beloved team.
