Big Ten Predictions for 2010: “Don’t get me wrong, it’s a big if. But if a team from the Midwest earns a spot to the BCS National Championship Game in Glendale, Arizona, it will have what it takes to get the win. It’s no secret that the team in the best position to make the MNC is Ohio State, who will almost certainly open the season in the Top 3 in the polls. If the Buckeyes can handle an early out of conference showdown against a ranked Hurricanes club, and run the table in conference, they’ll be primed to return to the big dance. If they get there, they’ll get even.” [Law Buckeye/Rivalry Esq.]

More like Te-No! “There is plenty of room to grow through the draft, and free agency. One thing that might be cause for concern is that Heckert has publicly stated his like of Tim Tebow and has publicly praised his play. This might just be him being outwardly nice toward the Florida QB, but it kind of worries me, not that Tebow is worth a 1st round pick, or even a pick on the first day, I would still hate to see the team take a chance on him, unless they were going to make him a Tight End…” [Lake Erie Soldiers]

About those classless WVU fans… “What West Virginia needs to do is put its fans on probation just like Italian soccer did with Juventus fanatics. It needs to tell them to stay home. It needs to make them think about their behavior while they miss taking in the play of their beloved Mountaineers.
After all, what happened Wednesday night at WVU Coliseum was not an anomaly. It was routine. The only good news was that this wasn’t any indication of a college basketball problem. From time to time, fans, particularly students, cross the line cheering for their classmates. But what happened at West Virginian is commonplace there. This is how they roll in Morgantown, W. Va.: On the next-to-last Saturday in January, West Virginia fans chanted profanity at visiting Ohio State players. The week before that, Mountaineers’ students threw cups onto the court after what they thought was a bad call by a ref.” [Kevin Blackistone/FanHouse]

Welcome back, Philip: “The last time we heard from former Cleveland G.M. Phil Savage, he was criticizing the Browns’ “dismantling” of the roster as he left it. Savage was specifically unimpressed by Eric Mangini’s handling of quarterbacks Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson. Now, Savage has been hired as a draft consultant for the Eagles. His official title is Player Personnel Consultant. It sounds like the deal is for no longer than one year, and perhaps will expire before next regular season.” [Pro Football Talk]

i want absolutely nothing to do w/ tebow until the 3rd day of the draft. i hope the Browns agree.
It’s no surprise that West Virginia fans acted the way they did. Bob Huggins has always run thug programs and encouraged classless behavior, and the antics of the fans reflects that.
And wait until you see what Lane Kiffin does to USC.
@MrCleaveland – you mean like offering a 7th grader?
Yes. Kiffin is going to make Rich Rod look like Tom Osborne.
hahahahah that picture of tressel is hilarious.
@Ben, well put sir
This team has so many holes how could you justify a 3rd round pic on a complete gamble? If we had an established base maybe I’d listen.
Say No to Tebow!
@Mr C, UC was not always a classless organization. It was especially cleaner towards the end (not perfect I understand). The thing you have to accept is no one (especially then) wanted to go to UC (unlike tOSU where people decide to go there before they’re 10 yrs old). It’s not like Huggins had the option to build a Duke like program but decided it was too hard.
/stopping before it becomes epic ramble
//UC grad, so is a little biased, but not too much
I’ve got an 20mo. old at home, and he has a football. I think I’ll give Kiffin a call.
I want nothing to do with Tebow, period.
If i have to hear the phrase “Tebow Time” every Sunday i might start punching babies
#SayNoToTebow
Has there ever been a player with as wide of a spectrum in terms of evaluation? I heard a scout on the radio the other day say that Tebow was undraftable. And then we see Mock Drafts where he could be gone by pick 20??
Wow, it’s like Erin Andrews magically aged 30 years in that picture. She looks…. kind of terrifying, actually. I was kind of hoping to see you guys use this picture for today’s WWW:

Tressel-Mania Runnin’ Wild!!!
Mr.Cleavland – I’m a bit biased towards WVU so may view may be skewed, but the actions of the students / aggressive fans is not a refelction on Huggins, who had the game stopped and addressed the crowd to stop their actions and if anyone sees the rowdy behavior continue to report them to security (during the Pitt game). I’ve been to several WVu football & basketball games and never seen fans act the way they are until this year. It’s definitely a black eye for the university though.
@12
Jay, fair enough. And, of course, it’s only a small percentage of knuckleheads who act like that.
I didn’t see the game, but I wonder if there was a lot of Attitude on the court. As you know, a lot of posturing, preening, and chest thumping can put the fans on edge.
@ MrC – Great point. I can attest to the answer being YES for the WVU/Pitt game. The two rivals always mix it up in whatever sport they play against eachother so some of the actions of the players (for WVU) could very well have led to some of the fans getting out of hand. I’ll definitely give you that one.
I blame a lot of the perceived “Tebow doesn’t suck” mentality on media hype. Media loves the kid, and w/ good reason. They want him to succeed. So they try to force that opinion on everyone else.
And, in some cases, they seem to have succeeded.
Alright this is off topic, but I was watching SC this morning and Adam Schefter(sp?) said that theres a rule for the uncapped year that players who want extensions can only get a 30% raise from what they made a year before. That took me straight to Cribbs. Can anyone confirm that a player can only get a 30% raise, therefore making that 1.4 mil offer really the best the browns could do this year? Maybe Mangini/ Aponte knew that and wanted to wait to screw over Cribbs and his agents?
bobby: I’m assuming that’s just base salary, right? They could still give him a big signing bonus.
@15 Ben the media is to blame for much of what is wrong with not only sports but this country for proof just watch alot of TV! Like politics I try to watch and read as much as I can from as many sources as possible because often each individual source is biased and has one viewpoint. Finally I use my own eyes and my own knowledge to formulate a stance. As far as how this all relates to Tebow, well, count me in with those who don’t see him taking the next step in his professional football career, at least not as a QB. Part of me can’t help but root against the kid for the way he’s the media darling too eventhough I know this isn’t the right kind of way to think.
If I can get Tebow in a later round like 4-7 then I pick Tebow. He’s wasn’t amazing in the Senior Bowl, but he was progressing pretty fast in the practices. This is why I hate college football. NCAA ruins the quarterbacks and basically every other position. The D-Backs NEVER play man, so there’s a learning curve. The QB’s ALL run a spread, so there’s a learning curve how to run an offense under center. Urban Meyer should have been working on Tebow’s delivery throughout his 4 years at Florida. He has an elongated delivery and he drops the ball to his hip. Meyer had 4 years to get that out of his game, but he didn’t, Tress wouldn’t have either. College coaches do nothing to prepare these kids for the NFL. There are only a few teams (coaches) who run a prostyle offense. Even Tress doesn’t stick with a prostyle offense anymore, he now runs a lot of spread..
“He has an elongated delivery and he drops the ball to his hip”
Sounds like Mr. Tebow could get a great job in the San Fernando Valley.
lol
“He has an elongated ****** and drops the ball to his ******”
I bleeped it for all of the childrens eyes.
No to Tebow. No to his “Focus on the Family” pro-life advertisements during the Super Bowl.
I think Tebow could be an interesting 2nd day pick. I’m one of the rare breeds of Cleveland sports fans that actually attended the University of Florida for the past 4 years though. So obviously, I’m a bit biased, but I think this would be a low risk, high reward during the second day. I know most northerners hate the media attention he’s gained and his outspoken religious views, but you know your getting a high energy guy who will do whatever it takes to make his team better. I don’t think Tebow will even fall that far though because the Jaguars are gonna try to save their franchise from relocating by taking him high to boost attendance.
Let the floodgates open…
The BCS is obviously set up to favor Big Ten (Ohio State) and Pac Ten (USC) in having the easiest route to a National Championship, with the winner of SEC as a third option.
If Ohio State or USC win out, they are shoe ins… If they dont get in an NC, then they get a Rose Bowl as a constellation prize.
Anyway, a playoff would hurt the Big Ten and Pac Ten the most.
By the way the Cavs are playing great… No need for a trade here.
