While We’re Waiting… Iguodala’s Fit, CC on LeBron, and Holmgren on Tebow

To some extent, saying [Andre] Iguodala can’t be top dawg on the Cavaliers is a non-statement. No one is as good as LeBron James; were to ever see a James/Dwyane Wade combo, Wade would have the ball in his hands more, but only because James saw it was the best course of action. Yet the Cavs wouldn’t be adding Iguodala in a vacuum, which is part of why they’re an elite team in this league. This team has a pretty well-developed flow to it, albeit one that’s sometimes glitched up by injuries, and at very least there’s Mo Williams, and the threat of Shaq, as highly strategic secondary options.
While Iguodala can create his own shot and do crazy things in the lane, with Cleveland he’d be expected to fit into a program. When a team’s other big target is supposedly Antawn Jamison, the poster child for low-key, malleable output, you know they’re not going after Iguodala for his shock and awe factor alone.” [Bethlehem Shoals/NBA FanHouse]

A colorful take on CC saying LeBron should come to New York: “What really [angers me mightily] is that not only did CC Sabathia’s [not-so-great] performance in the Boston series rob me of a chance to watch a Cleveland team win a championship, but it also set in motion some dominoes that have toppled to where the Indians currently reside — lowest payroll in the AL Central, with Brian Bixler and company promising a scrapdiddilydacious battle for .500 this year. He couldn’t just ruin one team. No — he’s intent on ruining two of my teams.” [Angry V/'64 and Counting]

What about if we freeze them? “All pro athletes are just like items in a grocery store, not in a “this would represent them” way, the way Andy Varejao is broccoli. But rather that all players, have a sell-by date, and an expiration date. A sell-by date meaning after which they are either a) virtually un-tradeable or b) you will sell them for cents on the dollar. And expiration date meaning that after this point, you can still use them, but you might get food poisoning.” [Lake Erie Soldiers]

The Big Show on Tebow: “As we head into the draft and free agency season, we’re really heading into the time of year when NFL executives simply can’t be trusted. Even if they have a passing resemblance Wilford Brimley. With that in mind, Browns head honcho Mike Holmgren is again stating how intrigued the team is with Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. In an interview with Seattle’s KJR, Holmgren offered…” [The OBR]

Well, at least I’m not fat, CC!…yeah, I’ve got nothing.
Only Art is hated more in my camp than Carston.
Just say “NO” to Tebow
#sayNoToTebow
Tim Tebow’s a d*ck. What kind of male role model and ultra Jesus pimp tackles his own mother? No thanks Timmy, you can take your windmill throwing motion to some other town. And CC, what the hell man? I understand he’s in NY now so he has to play up to the media of the town he’s in, but really? He needs to take a giant dump on Cleveland? Like we somehow screwed him over, and not the other way around. Bad form fat man.
But if we get Tebow, our practice squad will have the most heart out of any in the NFL!
I like CC and am not bothered if he talks up NY.
I bet Lebron would say something similar.
I noticed during The Big Game that Brees also drops his hand low and has kind of an elongated wind-up. And there ain’t nuthin’ wrong with him. Also, Tebow would probably be a great special teamer, and we know how much E-Manj loves those guys. And I’m sure he faithfully pays all his hotel incidentals. What’s not to like?
Make Tebow a tight end and i’ll be okay with it, god knows we need one of those
Also, Tebow would probably be a great special teamer
Shouldn’t this be in all caps? When are people ever drafted to “be a special teamer”?
@Kunal, because clearly he understands blocking and route running?
Tebow will be gone in the first 3 rounds, this is not something we should even be discussing with all of the holes this team needs filled.
that CC article may have been the most entertaining sports article I have ever read.
“Since you seem so intent on [pooping] on Cleveland, here’s to hoping that the next time you pitch down at the Jake, one of our darling little seagulls that hang around the stadium drops a fat load on your head.”
@swig – Ryan Pointbriand and Devin Hester, off the top of my head. Maybe Cribbs to, but I dont know what he was drafted as
The difference is that CC went to the Yankees, LeBron would be going to the Knicks. That’s a tough sell CC, even with all the pretty buildings NYC has.
Holmgren is Old School.
I’d be fairly certain that he’s putting it out there as a red herring. He’ll work a trade or just plain old lying to the other teams.
No one in the NFL will ever say who they’re actually looking at.
“Maybe Cribbs to, but I dont know what he was drafted as”
Because he wasn’t drafted at all.
Pointbriand is correct. Hester was drafted as a cornerback, though with the intentions of using his skills in the return game as well.
Cribbs was undrafted actually.
And to hell with what Chocolate Cheesecake thinks about this town, I’m fairly certain he’ll have no say in what Lebron decides to do. Calm down people.
@stinkfist
Cribbs wasn’t drafted, he was signed as an undrafted FA.
…I get it, thanks. My bad, I should have known that as much as I love his game
Hey, does anybody know what round Cribbs was drafted in? This is important.
If Tebow is taken, any chance Holmgren takes a chance on Ryan Mallet?
/Denny’d
Chances are, Mallett won’t be drafted this year. Holmgren would have to “wait for next year” to draft Ryan Mallett when/if he declares for the draft
I won’t watch/attend a single game if Browns draft Tim Tebow. Period.
NO! MALLETT IS NOT IN THIS YEARS DRAFT! WE NEED TO DRAFT JAKE LOCKER!!
I don’t see how a guy like Mallett, with all his physical gifts, would be passed over. Undrafted Free Agent addition?
Cribbs and Mallet will both be drafted this year
I hate see.see
I’ve noticed that after playing the Nets tonight, the Cavs will start playing real teams again. The Nuggets and Bobcats sandwiched in between the Magic who are a winning streak of their own. Good luck with all that!
How the hell would you know what’s it like to a win championship in Cleveland, Carsten! I’m pretty sure if your fat a$$ had won one in Cleveland, you would never have to pay for a single solitary thing for the rest of your life in Cleveland.
Besides winning a championship with the Yankees is like marking all “C’s” on a multiple choice test. If you stick with it long enough, you’ll eventually get one right.
Screw C.C. Sabathia!
@26 Eric the schedule definitely changes to more competitive teams another reason for Ferry to make a significant trade and hope that at least Delonte West returns.
I like Tebow to the Browns if he is drafted sometime in the 3rd-4th rounds. I think he can be a great wild cat player, especially with him, Cribbs and Jerome in the backfield. I don’t want him to ever be a starting QB but I do think he can do some different things and play some RB that’d help us on offense.
I think Lebron should do exactly what C.C. did. Sign with the team that can pay you the most money. Only reason C.C. didn’t end up on the west cost was the money he got from the Yankees. If New York had offered less, C.C. would have been in a different uniform.
Please people, get a grip and accept that not all football players have to be committed to felony charges, DUIs, and shootings. God forbid a decent guy comes along. Get over it.
I HATE TEBOW BECAUSE HIS TEAM BEAT OHIO STATE AND HAD TOO SUCCESSFUL OF A COLLEGE CAREER! OH, HE’S ALSO TOO MUCH OF A CHRISTIAN!
@steppen – his Christianity goes to 11.
@Denny – AND IT SHOWS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD! HE MIGHT AS WELL BE BILLY GRAHAM’S LOST SON!
Let’s be serious here. Troy Smith is a great QB (as far as college), Tim Tebow is a great QB (as far as college is concerned). Why are people willing to put money on QB’s that haven’t won yet not offer the winners a chance?
Seriously.
Hey, TS, can you and boogey just take it outside and settle it? You can argue for Smith and he can argue for Jamison as much as you guys want.
Alex, I don’t argue, only here to support the Ring mission.
What’s the over/under on the percent chance that TS and Boogieman are both Isis?
