Injury News: Robaire Smith Done For Season?

Good morning, folks. While we all sip our coffee an mull the news of the day, I bring you recent, yet not surprising news that another member of the Cleveland Browns will miss the rest of the regular season. MK Cabot reports that the Achilles injury suffered by defensive lineman Robaire Smith is of the serious variety, and could require surgery.
“We’ve found out it’s an Achilles, so he’s not in the best of shape,” said coach Romeo Crennel. “A big man and an Achilles is a tough thing to deal with. We’ll see how severe it is and make some decisions from there.”
Like Romeo said, Robaire’s size is not going to do him any favors in this regard. If Smith is done for the season, Shaun Rogers will not be spelled as often as he was in the first two games. And if the first one was any inclination, the big man gets a bit tired if he’s left on the field for every down. I guess that happens when you’re providing more of a pass rush than both outside linebackers combined.
Other options? The Browns could move Louis Leonard and Ahtyba Rubin up in the rotation. And if needed, the Browns can also call up 2007 sixth-round pick Mel Purcell, an end, from the practice squad. I bet the linebackers are just thrilled about this news…
Bring on the Ravens.

This is almost like the South Park little league episode where the kids are trying to out-do each other to see who can make their team lose worse.
Does it really surprise anyone the Robaire is hurt again?
When was Robaire hurt before? I think he played in all 16 last year.
I guess 2007 was a fluke in that only a few Browns were hurt. If I were Randy Lerner, I would have someone research which team had the fewest player games missed due to injury over the past 10 years and then give that team’s strength and conditioning coach a huge contract.
Maybe I’m confusing him with Sean Smith. Is it a surprise that another Brown is hurt again?
I say call up Mel Purcell, if nothing else so I can say I live next to a guy who plays for the Browns.
nice kid though.
