While We’re Waiting… Browns’ Struggles, Moon vs Jawad, and Thome’s Future

September 22, 2010It is no secret that Cavaliers guard Mo Williams has had an interesting summer. As if falling short of an NBA Championship for the second consecutive season was not enough, his alleged friend LeBron James bolted from the city of Cleveland in one of the worst ways sports history has ever seen.
Williams took to Twitter following James’ move and had recently told Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears that he considered retirement, not knowing what his future would hold. And while he has since thought about things with a clear mind and has decided to take a leadership role among the Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks swingman (and friend of LeBron James) Chris Douglas-Roberts felt that publicly blasting Williams was in his best interest.
Douglas-Roberts took to Twitter on Tuesday evening, littering his feed with slams at Williams’ expense, the first of which is pictured above.
Following said tweet, Douglas-Roberts followed up with several entrys of mere laughter.
“I wish y’all could see me right now,” Douglas-Roberts tweeted. “I’m on the FLOOR literally crying from laughing. I can’t get up! Help me!! Help meeeee! Hahahaahahaaaa!”
Naturally, Cleveland fans caught wind of Douglas-Roberts’ tweets, and lashed back. Unfazed, the player who affectionately goes by “CDR” claimed that he welcomed all of the “haters,” and said that he simply “loves the game too much to ever have feelings like [Williams did].”
Douglas-Roberts later stated that he respects Williams as the two players had “similar situations” coming out of college. With regard to their situations, both players were selected in the second round of their respective NBA Drafts, Douglas-Roberts most recently in 2008 out of Memphis.
Williams has yet to respond publicly. His last tweet came on September 20th, stating that “this has been the toughest time of his life,” indicating that things go beyond the basketball floor as he has also been dealing with family issues as well. Entering the 2010 season, Williams is a near lock to be a fan favorite after his public support of the city of Cleveland since the team’s early exit from the 2010 playoffs.
