Charlie Frye “likely” to start for Seahawks on Sunday
With starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck probably out with a strained knee, as well as backup Seneca Wallace who is also likely out with a strained calf, it appears the Seahawks are now turning to a familiar face. That’s right, the Seahawks are now about to see if they can indeed get a return on that 6th round draft pick they traded for Willard native and former Browns QB Charlie Frye.
Barely able to contain his excitement, Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren offered this on Frye’s first startfor the 1-3 Seahawks against Green Bay:
“It’s been a very unusual year,” Holmgren said. “You just keep plugging at it, keep going and stay positive.”
Hmm. You know what, if you are unfortunate enough to have any Seahawks wide receivers on your fantasy team…bench them now! Sorry, Charlie.
Frye, of course, wasn’t one of Browns GM Phil Savage’s better first day draft picks by any stretch. The third round selection out of Akron in 2005 never really demonstrated an aptitude to reading a defense too well (hence the obscenely high sack rate) and lacked the necessary arm strength to be the Browns answer at the QB position. While he did lack the physical skills, Frye did display mental toughness while playing for his hometown team here in Cleveland…which is more than some other QB’s of the new era of the Browns have shown. You at least have to respect that.
This will be Frye’s first start for Seattle since being shipped off after opening day last season for a 6th round draft pick. Good luck Charlie and Godspeed.

If you were counting on Seattle WR’s before…you were in trouble anyway!

I am in the clear since my Free Agent hopeful Deion Branch was reinjured on his first game back. He is already back on the market.

I bet Frye does okay. Not great, just okay.
